The Swifter Mop Hey everyone, I just have a question.. I recently purchased the Swfiter Duster Mop and i haven't used it yet but I have heard various things from people that its dangerous for dogs.. Has anyone heard that? Please, if you know or if you know any information please let me and lily mae know.. Have a good weekend |
No, this is a rumor that has been floating around for a number of years. We have many members who use the swifter. There are two websites (maybe more) that I use to check out rumors. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/s/swiffer.htm I use truthorfiction.com or snopes.com Enjoy your little one. :) |
Cindy, thank you so much.. I was so worried... My grandmother gave me hers and my mom mentioned I shouldn't use it because it might hurt Lily Mae.. I will keep researching before I use it |
I use it as well. No problems. It's is and was just a rumor going around made to scare people.(at least that's my opinion) |

We use it all the time!! And the girls are fine around it...Sailor even loves to chase it around and try and attack it!! We haven't heard anything bad about it.... |
There were people saying it had ingrediants similar to those found in anti freeze. And that if your dog got it on his or her paws and then licked it that it could potentially kill them. Don't believe it though. Nothings ever happened here. |
Swiff away, my YT friends!!! It's an urban legend that Swiffers are dangerous. |
We use one too and never a bit of trouble! Tiger likes to chase it as well! :animal37 |
I know a site has been suggested for search but I go to Hoaxbusters all the time. It is an older hoax! I think it is called an "urban myth".. |
I have a lot of tile floor, and use the Swifter Wet Jet all the time. With Furbabies, don't know what I would do without it. Swifter away, my friend!!! ;) |
Its a romour thats been going around for like ever  |
i use wet & dry swiffers all the time! no hazards! my Ava is fine! |
I really think people go overboard on what's dangerous for dogs......or other pets for that matter! Then, of course, if one person mentions something ---everyone else is off and running and spreading that information. Anyway - I have used a Swifter mop for years during which time I have had three dogs, two cats, and a bird. All of which had no problems ever from my Swifter mop. In fact, my keeping the floor clean ---probably added years to their lives. If you're talking about the mop that has the added cleaner in a container...if you continue to be worried about it....you can replace that cleaner with anything else you like....even water!!!!! But - I wouldn't worry! Carol Jean |
