Wrapping Coats I'm still new to the forum,so I'm not sure if this has been a topic or not. I couldn't find it on the search. Anyway, here's my question: I can spend an hour+ wrapping a coat, even spray each cracker with Bitter Apple, put him down and look at him 5 min. later, and all the papers are scattered everywhere. :( Help. What do any of you use? I think its a contest to see how quickly they can shred the wraps.LOL :yorkiesar |

I haven't wrapped a coat in a good while. I did it reliqiously at one time just to teach myself. He tore them out in no time. An no way can I have them around each other if they're wrapped, the other's will tear them out. So- I've given up basically on wrapping. I just grow them naturally with lots of leave-in strengthners. |
What strenghters do you prefer? I'd be happy, no, more like thrilled, if my stud would just leave the hair in the middle wrapped. I can't seem to get that to grow. :( He looks pretty good except there. What about show dogs & keepinh them wrapped? |

(maybe she'll see this and elaborate :) ) I use different things. I use coat handler's diluted in warm water. I also use it as a spritz before brushing. I also use petsilk stengthening silk rinse treatment. (it's a reconstructor as well, diluted). I use the petsilk as my main leave in and the c/h as an in between most of the time. I also use motions leave in. (in full strength) It's a product that i get at sally beauty supply made for african american type hair. I will admit that I've used it on myself too...I have caucasion hair with alot of color on it. Ohh, forgot to mention my most fav product there is...petsilk liquid silk (finisher) not a leave in streghthner, but a great product for their coats. i use it last and go over with a boar bristle to distribute. Talk about shine and luster! And a wonderful, pleasing smell. |
I am sorry, what are we talking about? Wrapping coats ??? and based on the answers we are not discussing outdoor winter type coats huh? Please explain for me... I am just a little slow.. ;) |

a yorkies hair up in sections with acid free tissue paper so the coat will grow longer and faster. It's most times called wrapping the coat. A question to the previous posters: If you just keep them off carpet would that be enough??? |

WOW... Thanks everyone! :) One more question... Uuuummm... why would you want to accelerate growing their hair? |
wrapping You can try several things...booties help some, they can not get their nails in the bands. If the wraps are falling out so easily, you may need to wrap the bands a few more times around them. You can put a satin wrapper coat on him..they make them just for this purpose..and make sure the hair is not too oiled or in heavy rinse, it will be slippery and the bands slide out too easily. Wrapping is for show coats as a rule...protects them for damage. |
