To groom, or not to groom! My yorkie is almost 2 and has never been to the groomer. I have always cut his hair and trimmed his nails myself. I live alone and it's hard to get him to hold still to do delicate areas (like around his eyes). I do OK, but its obviously not a professional hair-do. This may sound silly, but I'm nervous that the grooming people will be too rough with him, or that he will freak out so badly that he'll hurt himself. I need some opinions on this. I know I'm overprotective, but I can't help it. I don't want him to go through that stress if he doesn't have to. However, its getting increasingly difficult for me to do it myself. I wonder if anyone has any tips. I've thought about getting a grooming noose to use at home. What do ya'll think? |
If he is not use to having his trimmed, he will likey to freak out, I really don't know what to tell you, except maybe you should just get him a bath first and then maybe a bath and just a tiny trim.. Let him get use to it.. |
I must be a yorkie mom thing, I am over protective of my three too. Maybe to make it easier on him, bath him at home and just let them groom him. That is how it do it. Rudy can not stand to be in a cage, so when she is grooming one I keep the other two with me. Polly and Maddie have full coats so they just get the basics done and Rudy gets a long puppy cut, he has a cotton coat and is all boy. Were ever you take him go in and see how they handle the dogs. Alot of member write down exactly what they want done. |
