two. one in the bathroom where they stay during the day. It's large and they have plenty of room. one in the laundry room which is closer to the living room where we always are at night. |
I use 2 pads simultaneously - meaning I put two by stapling them together. This gives Tiger more room to "mess up". These pads are situated in my Laundry room, where there is a baby gate that serves as a barrier to the rest of the house. He is 95% pad trained and now I am crate training him so that he can learn to hold it longer. At almost 17 weeks, he is very good at 6 hours. I will extend to 7 hours next week. He does not roam freely in the rest of my house unless I know he has just gone to the peepee pad and pee'd and pooped. Only then will I let him loose for a short while. So far, this crate training is working very well. My only frustration is when I release him from the crate, and he relieves himself, he seemed to always be in a hurry so when he is almost done, he starts walking away from the pad while still "dripping" a little ugh! Does one have a solution for this? I'd hate to hold him . . . .and he might not "go" if I do this. Also, I would love for someone to tell me how do I transition him to go and relieve himself outdoors. Spring is coming soon and I would like him to do it outdoors (not by himself of course as I will need to take him out). I still want to keep the peepee pad for those lazy days    but I want him to do most of "it" outdoors . . . any tips on how to transition him? |
Well, we don't use all of the ones that we needd but. We have about 2 or 3 throughout the house of course we need about 50. |
I don't have any we have a 10 week old yorkie named hannah and we started outdoor training right away. she stays in a play pen at night and when we can't watch her, she has newspaper in her playpen but refuses to use it, she will whine and I take her out and shes fine. All yorkies are diffrent I just for some reason got blessed with an easy to potty train baby. I figured if I started the puppy pads she would never understand that outside is where she has to potty and so far so good. |
I have 2 pads in the kitchen by the back door. She does quite well on them. I only let her roam the house if she is with one of us. My pup which I got in Nov. does not like it outside! I take her out in her sweater and all she does is lay on the sidewalk and shiver. So I figured I would wait till the weather started to get warmer before training her to go outside. |
I have two pads down one upstairs and one down. I had more down at first but found out that the more you have down the more they will use all of them. If you put 10 down I 'm sure they would use all ten. I put a sheet of plastic around both of them to about 8-10 in. to help with the accidents I was having for awhile. Now I still have it down but she is pretty good on the accidents. She is one that is very private meaning if I am downstairs she goes upstairs to go and visa versa. I know they have frames for them but I found that they stay on pad better if its in a box. So I finally found one at Canadian Tire store that is an under the bed box but it is about 23" wide and about 4 ft. long and 4 " deep . Took it home cut it with an exacter knife to the size of the pad and the same to the lid. Box I use in the house and the lid I keep in the trunk of car if we go somewhere and I want to take her in the house I use that. Plus I make sure if she dirties that I clean it up right away because she will not use that pad till its gone. |
