Just Venting I posted in the breeder forum asking if anyone had ever heard of this breeder www.terrystwobytwo.com No one has heard of her but everyone was saying it looked shady because of the number of different breeds she had at the same time and that her yorkie gave birth to 8 pups! But the main reason why I asked about this breeder is because this is where I bought my yorkie from. I have had her for over a year and love her to death. I bought her before I found out about the Yorkie Talk website on a recommendation from a friend that bought a dog from her. Yes I bought the dog sight unseen from MS and had her shipped to NY and wish I would have found this site before I purchased her. In reading this site there are a few things in my dog that I have noticed. 1. she has an underbite (the breeder told me this b4 I got her and I wasn't concerned because it wasn't life threatening) but if I had known what I know now I know this is a genetic defect in the line. 2. Her hair won't grow and is very coarse. She is over a year old and still has puppy hair. I know now that this is also a genetic defect. 3. Her ears are HUMOUNGOUS and legs EXTRA long. I have never seen a yorkie as tall as she is. She is very tall and her ears are huge. This to me is also some type of defect or either not a good line. I love the dog I have but if I knew then what I know now I would not have purchased from her. I think she must not be breeding to better the breed. I haven't quite figured it out but the more things I learn the angrier I get that my dog doesn't seem to be genetically correct with the yorkie line. She looks full blooded yorkie but these were just some things that I observed. :( |
But the important thing is that your baby loves you. That's the great thing about these babies, they love us regardless of our faults. I'm sure she's sweet baby and as long as she brings you joy and you're not breeding her, then enjoy each other and take your lessons learned and plan on using them in the future if you get another baby. Everyone's yorkie looks different and unique in it's own way, that's not what makes up the yorkie. It's their kindness. I'm sorry you had to work with this breeder but your yorkie was brought to you for a reason :D |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of her just in case u guys were wondering what she looks like. |

But you love her and that's all that matters!! I don't know if my breeder was the best but I don't care, her imperfections make her great!!! |
She is adorable :D |

Quite frankly, I think her ears give her amazing and unique character. She is absolutely adorable. :) |

One of my two is full of faults too. He is over the standard in weight, Has a cotton coat, and has severe allergies. It just makes me more concious when I chose a breeder for my next one. I love Chachi to death though. |
My story is almost the same as yours. Except I SAW Dublin before getting him from a breeder that a friend had turned me on to. I think that Dublin was as much as a month younger than she told me. He was supposed to be under 7lbs and he's now over 10! He also has an underbite that became even more pronounced with his adult teeth, and his hair is growing painfully slow... He's still adorable, has personality plus, and I wouldn't trade him for the world. But I understand where you're coming from... |
My breeder isn't perfect either other than she loves all her dogs . . . . so what she lacks, I get the rest from this wonderful site. As far as looks, they say "beauty lies in the beholder's eyes" . . .with that and a wonderful personality, I am sure your yorkie is just perfect in every way! |
Just because she doesn't fit the breed standard does NOT mean that she isn't a great pet. She looks very lovable and though she might not be everything that you wanted, she loves you and you love her. There are many breeders out there that aren't producing quality pups. People purchase them then are upset when the dogs don't turn out as expected. I wish that you would have found YT before that purchase but it's okay. You know what kind of breeder she is but like I said, she looks precious so don't feel disheartened. |
I love the ears I actually asked Sugar Bears Breeder if she'd have big ears like her Daddy and he said he was unable to say. Then when I got home he called to ask me if I was unhappy w/ her b/c of the comment about the ears and I said absolutely not I live her to pieces and I want her to have big ears..... Your baby is totally cute |
Awww...She's a real cutie! Love the bow in her hair :) She looks like such a sweet yorkie :) |
Awe, those traits are noticable, but she is adorable....it gives her character :) . Just think how scarey it might be to wonder if you didn't have her.....who would? I think she is adorable! |
Awww thanks you guys. Like I said I was just venting and was a little upset about it. She is a wonderful dog and I wouldn't trade her for anything. All my friends and family think she is just the cutest thing and can't get enough of her. She's definitely a keeper but I know next time what to look for. |

I bought my first yorkie from a pet shop, before I knew better. Shelby had allergy problems from the time he was 3 years old, til we lost him 8 years later. He might have had some other issues too, but none of that mattered though. He was the best little buddy I ever had. It's been three years now since Shelby went to that infamous bridge, and we're almost ready to start over with a new puppy. Kim is training Woodie for me now, as we speak........... :animal36 :animal36 Chris |
She's a sweetheart!!! :) How lucky she is to have found a mom like you!! We have an older Yorkie we bought in ignorance, his hair's not the best, and he's not as cute as your furbaby, but we love him and he loves us. Wishing you the best!!!!! |
She's beautiful!!!! Samson has kinda big ears and I think they make him look adorable!! |
the ears are so funny....but cute...I'm sure the picture makes it look bigger! |
aaawww, she is absolutely precious! She doesn't even look that tall! I know you love your baby lots and I'm sure she is over the moon about you :p |
1 Attachment(s) I sometimes feel that way about Starsky's breeder. Starsky was from the first litter his mom had. His dad was supposedly 4 lbs and his mom was 6. I think back and I think they were actually bigger than what the breeder said. Starsky is a little over 9 lbs and has longer legs than normal. But I would never trade him for the world.!! He has the best personality and he is raised the way I want him to be. I know he admires me just by the way he gives me that puppy love look. I didn't know a whole lot about the breed before I got him and was trusting the breeder. I just wanted a little dog as a pet to love and that is what I got! He is perfect in my eyes!! |
awwwwwwwww....I lover her ears!! She is adorable! I can understand how you are upset with the breeder but look at your preciuos girl. I'm sure you would've bought her all over again if you had the chance. She is PRECIOUS! |
She is a cutie and the best thing her mom loves her just the way she is. I think she has a nice coat, I have read that yorkies that have the thinner coats as puppies have the long silk coat as they get older. I think it takes about two years before you see there true coat. |

She is absolutely adorable:) Like others have posted, I too have my share of "faults" in the Yorkies I've owned (and still do). My first one had an underbite, not a problem but she wasn't "show quality". But I didn't get her for show, I got her to love:) After Katie passed away, I got Gabby. The only "fault" she has is that she is MUCH bigger than I expected. Once she hit 6 months, we knew she was going to be on the larger side of the standard and were expecting full grown weight to be in the neighborhood of 8-10 pounds. Well..."Miss Piggy" has grown up to be a very big, beautiful girl who weighs in at 16 pounds. Then I have Gage, my rescue. And boy is he so not "perfect" (although he is to me!). His hair is barely growing along the back part of his spine. Vet says it could be from one of two things: 1) I can't remember the name of it but there is something that causes their hair not to grow and this could be what he has or 2) the stress from the living environment he was in before we got him cause the hair to fall out/not grow. His hair is absolutely beautiful around his face, legs, and the first 2/3's of his back. Vet said that the hair may grow with proper diet and lots of love. Well, he's definitely getting plenty of both and has come out of his "shell" (we're still waiting on the hair thing, it looks as if it wants to grow out). But hairless or not, I love him to pieces. The important thing, which you've already mentioned, is that you love her. Regardless of her big ears (which are just soooo precious) and bite issue, she is who she is today because of you and your love:) |
Maddie has huge ears also. That is what attracted me to her. I think they are so cute. She went to the groomer's the other day and I told the groomer to make her look more like a dog and less like a bunny rabbit. I was just kidding with her because I do love her big ears. She just laughed at me. She said because they are so big that they wouldn't looked right shaved on the tips like some yorkies have. She just trimmed around the edges. My husband says he doesn't like them like that. He likes all the hair hanging from them. Joan |
Your girl is adorable. Don't ever think otherwise. Just enjoy what you have and feel blessed that she is loving you in return and is healthy. That being said please remember that these babies are just like human babies in that we don't know how they will turn out. Only can hope for the best but each one is different. Thats why I have so few show pups but more pet puppies. Your girl is sweet and I too have found faults with a couple of mine that I spent BIG money on only to realize when they were grown that they would always be just lap warmers :D Doesn't make me love them any less and wouldn't ake a million dollars for any one of them. They will be with me till they cross the rainbow bridge. |
