Does anyone use them?

no just wee pads and they do the job

I put the wee wee pads inside the litter box. I want her to get used to going to the box before I start buying the litter. I also heard that they might eat the litter so you have to be careful.

I have the litter boxes but I put pee pads in them. I thought the litter was too messy.

I use them and love them!! I was about ready to pull ALL of my hair - and would have if it meant they would be potty trained - and then I heard about this and tried it!! Are you thinking about doing this - what are you doing right now? I would be happy to tell you how I did it with mine. :D

I had the litter in it and she didn't eat it, she is more of a fan of chewing receipts, paper, whatever the little baby can find. But the pee pad in the litter box is a good idea...i'm on it!!!

can i just say that chachi and jewels are the cutest...i love the name jewels!!!

Bentley uses the litter box and its to the point now that you just have to say go potty and goes right in and does his buisness!! He does do it on his own too but its just funny how we can say that and he knows exactly what to do! I like it for the fact that he doesnt like the cold weather at all so we dont have to let him out to go potty and if no one is home he uses the box and doesnt have to hold it or have an accident. Goodluck with litter box training if you decide to do it! By the way we use it with the litter but the puppy pads are a good idea...

New pup owner-HELP!
 

I am a new member. I am getting a new yorkie pup next week. He's about 12 weeks old. I wan't him to be an indoor doggie, and don't know if I should litter box train or pee pad train. Which works best for the dog's entire life...into adulthood? Thanks, Anita

I have a 13wk old Yorkie. We got her when she was 8 wks old. I have been having the hardest time trying to train her to go anywhere but where she feels like going. I am trying the pee pads and sometimes she will go on them at other times she will walk right past them and pee. It is really too cold to take her out much and she just shakes outside and cries..She will pee outside when I take her out though. I have the pee pads in several places..Is that the wrong way to do it? Should they I just have 1 place with a pad for her to go?? As for poop..she will not go if anyone is in the room or looking at her...I am ready to cry...I have no idea how to train her. I have never used pads before..and now I read about a littler box..how would you use that?? Will I eventually get her to go outside if she is started with the pads?? Can someone please give me some advice. She has a soft crate and I put her in it about 11 at night..she wakes up to pee at about 2-3am..she goes (sometimes on the paper) and then I take her back to bed with me and she sleeps till around 5:30...
I work from home so I try and keep after her all day putting her on the paper..but she can disapear in a second if I just turn my head...Help Please..

I use the litter box with the wee wee pads inside (up stairs). I also have 2 rubber made tubs (suppose to be for wrapping paper - they are only about 3-4 inches from the ground) that I use down stairs. I have to cut the wee wee pad in half for those, but they work great!!! TJ and Roxy know to use the boxes for potty - of they do get potty treats which helps tremendously too!

I think they are great! I high recommend them. TJ would pee half on and half off the pad when I used to just lay the wee wee pad down. Now he has to go in all the way.

Do you just put down one pad in the same place all the time? I have them scattered all over the house..maybe that is confusing her???

Downstairs I have 2 boxes/wee wee pads set up. They are at either ends of the house. I also, place just a wee wee pad in my dinning room corner, b/c for a while TJ 'just felt like' peeing in the corner in there, so I figured I might as well place a wee wee pad there (good thing, b/c he now uses that one too!) So, I have a total of 3 set up downstairs.

Upstairs, I have a spare room (TJ and Roxy's room). They have 2 litter boxes (side by side) set up. I am gone all day, so they need 2 for peeing purposes!
Also, upstairs in the hall way I have another box set up (rubber made, with a 1/2 a wee wee pad).

TJ and Roxy use everyone that is set up. I also do a high PRAISE followed by a small training treat - highly recommended!

Don't get me wrong though, occasionally I still find a pee puddle in the corner somewhere or a small pee drop on the carpet or poop behind the couch...

Do you guys use the dog litter box or the cat litter box? Also, for the pee-pee pads, when I tried using them on the carpet, she always likes to play with them. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep them in the litter box so that they dont become her new toy??? :D

You can actually train them to use a litter box! :eek: Man, I bet it's too late for us now, huh?

I plan on using a litter box for Titan. I ordered the Dog litter box a week ago and waiting for it to come in. It is cheaper for me to buy the natural litter made for small animals and cats than it is to buy the Purina Secondnature dog litter. He does pretty well so far on peeing on the pads. We have a small apt so I just have one set out in the kitchen corner. I just have a hard time with him peeing in his bed or kennel. As soon as he starts to whine I take him to the pad but sometimes that is already to late. I thought they didn't like to pee where they slept? Oh! I also have one pad in the bedroom so in the middle of the night I don't have to walk with him down the hallway.

My mother babysits a Yorkie who is box trained. She loves it! His daddy is obsessed with him and even wipes him after peeing. :eek: I actually think it is cute.

I would love to hear how you were able to do this!! I'm opened to all options....especially ones that include me NOT standing out in the snow waiting for Adrianna to pee when it's 15 degrees out!!!! ;) :D

I got my baby litterbox trained (lined with newspaper), too. If we say "go potty", she would jump right in and do her business. We don't ask her often though, only right before we head out the door and before she goes to bed at night. She would go there whenever she needs to go anyway. :cool: Let me know if you still need help on potty training. :)

Eleanor is being litter trained. She is six weeks old and taking to it like a duck to water. The rest of her littermates have been using it too.
