Namor | 10-31-2023 10:40 AM | Deuce needs an eye removed My beautiful boy has had some time of it. He will be 14 next week and still weights only 5.6 lbs. Three years ago he had a cataract removed and a lens implant in his right eye. Shortly after we noticed a cataract in his left eye. At the time I didn't think we should put him through yet another surgery with hopes to have his teeth addressed. I really fear anesthesia for my little man. Well now the left eye has Glaucoma with increasing pressure. Options are to remove the left eye or do a gentocin injection. The injection is appealing but may not do the job or not be long lasting which will result in having to remove the eye anyway. We have pretty much decided to remove his eye. Anyone else have experience with this? What does a yorkie with one eye look like? Is a prosthetic necessary?
I used to be quite active on this forum but grandkids came into the picture and I just haven't been here. I need to post a few current photos of my little old man so you can see how he's changed over the years. I continue to do my own grooming and just this year I cut off his topknot and he's sporting a crewcut. He still looks like a puppy - only a little slower. Glad to be back. |
