My girls are being spayed in the morning I am taking both Deb and Maya to be spayed in the morning. I am very nervous and worried for them!!! Please tell me what to expect when I bring them home! They will be spending the night at the vets. There is someone there 24/7 to check on them. Should I keep them in seperate kennels to rest or together in the pen that they are used to? Will I be able to hold them or should I plan to let them just lay around? I am new to this and scared for my girls! |
i was just in your shoes yesterday! except i have a little boy. he did great! he took a nap when we got home, but 4 hours later, he was up and ready to play. peeing was normal, but his poop was runny. and boy was he hungry!!! i was afraid to feed him too much at once, lest he starts to vomit. so i hand fed him kibbles and water. he yelped a little bit when i touched the leg where the catheter was used. he also wasn't as playful as he normally was. but he did like to be held. this morning it's as if nothing happened. he's playful, just moves a little slowly. and so hungry i swear he'd eat a horse if i fed him one. your girls will be just fine! good luck! |
Jen, it will be OK! Expect both your girls to be very sleepy and a little out of sorts. Your vet may give you some pain meds for them, and they may sleep a lot for a day or two when you bring them home. Sometimes pain meds mess up their stools, so don't be surprised. When you bring them in, ask a million questions of the vet, and when you pick them up, ask a million questions about recovery. Your vet should be able to put your mind at ease. Also, there is some kind special of anesthetic gas they should use with the surgery that works pretty well with Yorkies with little complications... I don't know what the name of that is but someone else should be able to tell you. They'll be OK, Jen honey!! I'll be thinking about you and your girls tomorrow! You are a WONDERFUL doggy mom for doing this for your girls, you know!! :p HUGS!! |
Oh wow!! We are planning to do this in a couple of months. How old is your pup? I am not looking forward to this. We are getting it done, but I feel for my little one. |
Hi! When we brought Biddy home from being spayed she was pretty groggy & out of it - but she was back to normal in a couple of days. best of luck & I hope they have a speedy recovery! |
They will be tired, and will just rest for a day or two. But then they will be running all over like nothing happened. Wishing them a speedy recovery! Hang in there Mom, it's really harder on you then it is for them! Please keep us posted. :) |
IF I were in your shoes I'd try to keep them together if that's what they're used to....but your vet may have other ideas.... When Cheri just got spayed last year she recovered very quickly. She was done by 10 am and home by 5. day 2 you wouldn't have even known she had the surgery. GOOD LUCK ! |
Thank you everyone!! I appreciate all the support! Keep the advice coming!!! I will update tomorrow as soon as I hear something!!! Deb is 7 months old and Maya is 6 months old. |
Your girls will be fine!! I went through it twice with both of my girls...they were pretty out of it for a couple of days and then everything went back to normal!! Just listen to the doctor and do whatever he/she says....let us know how they are!! |
Well I dropped the girls off this morning and Maya cried the entire ride to the vets office. I swear I think she knew what was up!! Deb just looked sad. I am a nervous wreck and will be until later this afternoon when I know they are both ok!!!! |
both at the same time?? I am waiting for an update on them. I have an appointment for ahia and was wondering if i should have buckeye done at the same time. would this be too much for me to handle at one time? I hope all goes well for you and them. :getwellso |
Just wanted to wish you all good luck!!! |
I just spoke to the vets office and both girls are doing fine! I am so relieved!! Of course I will feel better when I can go get them tomorrow!! Thank you everyone for the well wishes and prayers!!! |
I'm glad to hear they are doing well! |
Dayzee is being spayed next Monday. I'm a little nervous about it. |
good luck to all! I'm glad I'm through it..I was a nervous wreck and it all turned out good...got one more that needs some teeth pulled and hopefully we will be done with surgeries! |
Hooray!! I was thinking about you and the girls today! So happy all went well! :D |
I just brought my little girls home and wanted to let everyone know they are doing good!! Poor Deb had to have 10 teeth taken out too....doesnt that sound like a lot??? Maya had none that needed to be removed!!! Poor little things are curled up on their bed together. I decided to try and keep them in their pen like they are used to...they would cry if they were in kennels and seperate from each other! |
