Upcoming travel Well our date is near and if anyone else has tips on driving long distances with their little ones, I'd be happy to read!! Our drive is 23 hours straight each way so im thinking of staying over 1 night in a hotel after about 12 hours. I will be bringing his kennel and he has a cushy carrier that attaches to the console in between the front seat. He loves it. Should be interesting!! |
I over pack honestly and make sure I have an extra of almost everything. I forgot shampoo once and of course that was the time we had to have a bath emergency. I would make sure he is secured some way in the car whether a tether to the seatbelt or closed up crate/carrier. I actually try to avoid the special pet areas of rest stops because they can end up gross. If he barks or noises bother him then if you have a choice at a hotel don't stay near the elevator. |

Make sure he is drinking; you may want to give him bottled water in case his system is sensitive to water from different locals. |

Cody also cannot drink the well water, I went through several brands of water before I found one he would drink which is Poland Springs in the BIG jugs, he won't drink the same water in 16 oz. size AND, when we go out, I have to take that JUG with his regular drinking bowl for him to drink. Before I found a water he would drink I was boiling boneless chicken cutlets (there is very little fat in cutlets) and adding two tablespoons of chicken broth to the water to get him to drink until I finally found a brand he would drink. |
