Any good, Nice, Responsive breeders out there? I have recently contacted two breeders and not sure why I received a rude response or no response. One of the breeders who I got the name of off here, (Sapphire) I asked if she Bred yorkies With a snout on the smaller side. Her answer was very curt saying she only bred to standard Yorkies don’t have a snout they have a muzzle. And yet I know Yorkie’s that are bred to standard and some have a longer muzzle than others. That was about a month ago. Then I contacted Jala Yorkies, You never responded to my inquiry, when I s**t on Facebook she had not responded to my inquiry she just deleted my question? I have to say I am an excellent dog mom! I am 55, zero children, zero grandchildren, I own my own home, and I have had three Yorkies in my lifetime. I am looking for a quality Yorkie and I don’t care if I have to fly anywhere to get one. I have recently decided to get a Maltese and have had much better experience with The breeder I’m working with who is going to Westminster this year. However I would still like a Yorkie… Does anyone know of another Breeder who would like their dog to have an excellent home? Thanks so much in advance. |
Tried to correct my mistakes in the thread above but for some reason I got locked out and it wouldn’t let me because I guess I took longer than five minutes sorry for the mistakes and the bad word that wasn’t supposed to be there! |
There are no more breeders on YT, that's probably why you received no response when you last posted. The reputable ones either retired or passed away. If there are any breeders here they are lurking but do not reply. Beware if you should get a PM, all breeders are not reputable because they are on YT. Always do your homework when looking for a breeder no matter where you find them. Good luck on your quest for that special lil baby. |

IF I were looking for a yorkie puppy, I would start by looking at the breeder list on The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Just a good place to start, but you still must do your homework on the breeder. My one important piece of advice is to go to https://www.ofa.org/browse-by-breed and take a look at what genetic conditions are known and/or tested for in yorkies. I personally would never purchase a puppy from a breeder who does not do OFA testing on her breeding pairs. |
Thanks so much for your advice ladies, they just seems like it’s getting so much tougher to find quality Yorkies. I think maybe they’re just all too interbread to breed out the bad genetics. My last Yorkie I had to give up right before Christmas, Rosemark recommended the breeder Because she had male puppies and she had purchased a stud from Rosemark. Unfortunately the puppy came down with PLE about 10 months old. So not really anybody’s fault and now having had two Yorkies with PLE I’m really gun shy. I spent thousands getting the puppy, thousands to find out what was wrong and a broken heart. |

You are correct about good breeders....but it has always been the case. Bad/irresponsible breeding has always been more prolific than good breeding. It just takes time to find the good ones. |

It's of no use me recommending breeders as I live in England but I would suggest that you do what I always advise people to do here. Contact the secretaries of any Yorkshire Terrier breed clubs you have over there. Ask them if they could give you the contact details of any members, especially ones who are exhibitors. They may even know of ones who are expecting a litter. Even if not, ring some of their recommendations. & explain your situation. Then you will often get passed along via the grapevine to others who may be planning or already expecting a litter, though if it's the same there you will almost certainly have to go on a waiting list of one or more people. All the reputable breeders I know never advertise, I know I never needed to. Must say I'm surprised at the health problems that seem to be occurring there. Here there are no genetic health problems listed on The Kennel Club for Yorkies that require breeders to test for. They are a very healthy breed here. I've owned, shown & bred for over forty years with no occurance of serious health issues, mine all living healthily well into their teens. One until two weeks before her twentieth birthday. |
Try contacting Hylan Acres Yorkshire Terriers at their website. |
Beware of recommendations and people selling puppies on this forum. No matter WHAT, you must always research your breeder FIRST before even looking at their puppies. I would always start with the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America but even then you must do your own research. www.ytca.org |
