Neutering feelings Anyone wish they didn't neuter their little ones? Because I am currently regretting having gotten mine done a couple days ago. |
Why? I don’t regret one bit especially knowing they will live longer healthier lives. I do wish I neutered Ollie sooner. |
Nope...never regretted it for one second. |
Glad to see people who haven't regretted it. I feel badbi put him through it. And I guess with all-over read, I see there is a lot of positives to keeping them intact. So its been hard. Prob harder too when my husband made me feel even worse because he disnt want it done at all. And omgosh my little guy will not remain calm so I'm trying all I can without forcing him to stay in a crate the whole time practically because he is so active. Literally had to hide his ball and Frisbee for now. Lol |
Personally, I let them play! The biggest concern is keeping him from licking it....other than that, he should be fine! I would not let him go crazy, but I never crate extensively after a spay of a female or neuter of a male. They do so well after surgery. If you can, get a baby onesie and put on him making sure the surgery site is covered. Leave the E collar on when you are not with him They can lick them and make a mess of the incision in a very short time!!! Tune hubby out. LOL Once the little guy is running around normal, your husband will forget all about it! |

Yes, the onesie is on but he can still get to it with a tiny bit of work, just gotta watch him like a hawk. There's really ko keeping this little dude down so it's not easy. Lol The vet ended up giving trazodone to help keep him calm (which they said was absolutely necessary to keep him as calm as possible) but I dont like how he was on it. I did the dose as prescribed and felt it was too much and got scared. Then I tried again with half the dose and he did a little better for a very short while. I dont like him on it though so I'm not going to try it again. With all his activity, he still seems ok and the area still looks good. |

They all say keep them quiet but so much easier said than done. These pups recover quickly! Sounds like you are on top of him.....he will be fine as will hubby. LOL |

Never regret neutering your pup, you extended his life. Tune out the hubby and stop beating yourself up. You did the best thing for your fur baby. Yes, it is hard trying to keep them calm, they take surgery better than humans, they bounce back so fast. I wouldn't let him jump on and off furniture, but would let him play, but not crazy, zooming and jumping. |
Thanks everyone. I truly appreciate your responses. So tonight was really difficult to contain him. He was like a little beast with trying to zoom all over and jump on things. It's like all that energy needs to be released. He is sooo high energy, to the point my hubby states he's never seen a small dog like that. Lol. |

If he's crate trained have him go in and rest for a bit. They are like energizer bunnies, they keep going and going and going until they drop lol. |
