My baby has diarrhea! Isabelle's has had diarrhea for 3 days now. I am starting to get worried. The only thing I think that could have caused it was when she snuck into the cat's food. I wonder if anything else could be wrong. |
Cat's food is so rich that it could be the culprit. I would feed her nothing buy boiled chicken and rice for a while. If that doesn't work, call the vet. I know they can be given something for diarrhea, but I never have so I can't advise you on that! |

I agree! Chicken & rice is the way to go. Good luck - I hope she feels better soon! |
Thank you so much!!!! |
Diarrhea arg! Hello. I use rice with a small amount of chicken broth, then a 1/4th of an Immodium anti-diarrhea pill for humans. The pill is hidden within a ball of cheese. If they refuse it, i force the pill down with my finger then close their mouth until they swallow. If after 6 hours the diarrhea persists, i repeat another 1/4th of an Immodium pill with cheese. The following day I reintroduce the original food: mix rice with half of the amount of their normal food. Changes in diet always cause diarrhea in my yorkies!!! Its a bummer but no need to go to the vet unless she is dehydrated. Good luck! ;) |
Diarrhea is the pits!!! My Rowdy always gets it if we change food or if he gets stressed out. The catfood is probably definitely the culprit. If he seems alright otherwise - playing, drinking water, etc. then I would use the chicken and rice and I use children's kaopectate, 1 teaspoon full (Rowdy is 4 lbs). When he acts like he feels really badly or he vomits too - then I take him right to the vet! Oh, if he is young or really small or not eating well, then I'd give him some nutracal also. Good luck |

When my baby was really sick, the vet put her on Hill Prescription Diet Canine i/d. It is a bland soft dog food. I keep a can of this handy at all times for when Gracie gets sick. It is specially made for dogs that are sick and require a bland diet. You should be able to get some from you vet, I have never seen it sold in stores. The only thing that alarmed me with this food is that Gracie hardly drank any water when she ate this food, the vet explained that this specific food has alot of water in it to hydrate them and to keep them from dehydrating when sick (the first ingredient is water). I found that giving her this dog food, when sick, is alot easier then cooking bland chicken and rice, and it is fordified with good vitamins to help her get better quicker. Good luck to you! (By the way, nutracal is a paste that you give dogs to give them a "energy boost", it is fulled with vitimans and minerials, highly suggest you keep a tube handy at all times, you can get it at any pet shop) |
