insight need about coat texture change 1 Attachment(s) Hello everyone, So in May we shaved down Tinky for the summer and to get rid of her baby coat. she has a cotton coat that wasnt too thick and in some parts felt silky and was shinny, didnt tangle unless not brushed. now however, as her coat is growing and getting longer, i noticed the texture has changed, it feels thicker, and is tangling alot especially where the harness is attached. i do brush her daily with a pin brush then a comb to make sure i get the tangles. she gets a bath every 10 days with everyday isle of dog shampoo and conditioner. i would like to know according to your experience, could this change be from the food she is having (finally i found a kibble she will eat, britcare mini hair and skin, salmon and herring formula) supplemented by me with coconut oil or salmon oil. or could it be the weather as it not humid and she plays outside most of the time. any insight would be helpful, because i am suspecting the kibble. |
She’s a doll, and her coat looks healthy in the photo. However, I don’t believe there is any way to change a cotton coat into a silky coat via diet or grooming. It’s a genetic difference, and I would guess that any changes you’re seeing now are the result of maturity not diet. If you’ve found a healthy food she likes, I wouldn’t change it in the hope it might change her genetic coat type. |

Anw the most important thing is that she is healthy and a happy girl :D |
No food won’t change the coat texture like that. I’m sure it’s just her adult coat. All four of mine have all different textures it’s kind of interesting. |
