Neutering Experience! I will start by saying Enzo was Neutered Thursday 4/1/21. The Surgery was successful and he is doing well. In addition to being neutered, he had 4 baby teeth extracted and was microchipped. He is mostly back to normal. The questions I'm asking is how you all deal with keeping him active without his normal exercise routine. He is scheduled to see the Vet on the 12th and hopefully be cleared to resume normal activity. We have him on soft food due to the extractions which is fine, but it's heartbreaking to see him with the "Cone of Shame" (actually we got a Donut from Amazon and I would definitely recommend). Just wanted to know the community thoughts. My wife and I are getting our 2nd Covid-19 shots in a few days, so hopefully we all won't be down for the count. 😂 |
It is heart breaking confining these lil imps, but he has to heal from surgery, no jumping around, no zooming. It's for his own well being. Congrats on getting your 2nd COVID shot. Here in Pennsylvania getting the first shot is difficult. |
Thanks, and yes it's so hard. He only has 4 days to go, but as you know, the better he feels the more he wants to run. 😂 He's confused about the confinement situation, but it's for his own good! Feeling good about not getting any side effects from the shot accept arm soreness! |
I only use the cone if I can not watch them or if they are really trying to lick. I didn't use a cone at all with Dixie who got spayed about a month ago. I bought on of those surgical onesies and she wore that at night and was watched during the day and never messed with it. I kept her in an exercise pen for 7 days and her vet said she was healing extremely well and was cleared to come out of the pen and more toward normal activity and then at 10 days she was allowed to go back to full on activity. Boys usually heal and are back to normal before girls. Its been 8 days so his incision should be healed by now unless there were some issues. Joey only had 2 stiches and they didn't use stiches with Ollie so after a week they were good. I used lots of chews and puzzle toys. |
