Treat warning! Whimzees! 2 Attachment(s) I wanted to share a warning about WHIMZEES VEGGIE SAUSAGE chew. I had bought these loose at a pet store and didn't look at the ingredients because I guess I thought it would only contain pet safe things. I was wrong. Penny was the only one who liked them and would chew on them and they got a very heavy clove like smell once chewed on. Then Penny began throwing up foam with pieces of the chewed up chew in it. She did this a few times and then was fine luckily. Penny has an iron stomach and never throws up so it wasn't sitting right with me so I looked them up and they have clove bulb oil in them which I looked up further and yep its toxic to dogs. I threw them out and will never buy another Whimzee product ever! This company should be ashamed of putting toxic ingredients in their treats! |
How awful. Thanks for letting us know. |

That's crazy and scary and thank God your girl is ok. And thank YOU for sharing essential information with us. So glad everyone is alright! |
Jax had a wellness check up yesterday, and I asked the vet about dental chews. So far, his teeth are really healthy, and I want to keep them that way as long as possible. But I’ve tried several brands of dental chews, and I don’t like how gummy they become after just a few minutes of chewing. I’m concerned about the possible choking hazard as well as the possibility they could gum up his digestive tract. Jax’s vet’s opinion is that the benefits of dental chews outweigh the risks as long as the chews are VOHC approved and are given under supervision. However, several kinds of Whimzees are listed as approved on the VOHC site, so it would be easy to buy the wrong product thinking it was okay. http://www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Dogs.pdf I guess we need to check both the VOHC approval and the ingredient lists on the products. |
