Dog house
 
Hi,

We were thinking of building a deck and having a doghouse there for our yorkie to rest during his rest hours in the daytime & will be easier to let him out in the garden. We want to have him sleep indoors in his crate during the night. Is this a workable idea?

Hi and welcome to YorkieTalk. It sounds cute but personally I would not have my dogs outside without me due to hawks and owls and coyotes, etc. Unless it is all screened in and protected?

Yorkies are not meant to be outside dogs and its just not a safe idea. Not only are they small and prey for a lot of animals they also can be taken by people. That might work for other breeds that are bigger and made to be outside more but not for a yorkie.

Hello there. Sorry for reviving such an old thread. Need your advice on a dog house. My friend told me that a spool house is a good one to get. What do you think about it?

What do you want a dog house for? Yorkies are not dogs that should be left outside.

Why does your friend think a spool dog house is better than any other dog house, and would this "spool house" be used for a yorkie. Below is a Spool house

Unfortunately that house wouldn’t keep a yorkie warm in my opinion. It’s cute and it might be something I used inside but not for a yorkie outside.

As for the DIY Cable spool dog house, I think it's a pretty cool idea. It's definitely unique and would make for a great conversation starter. powerency...IF you have a yorkie, would you leave it out unattended in hot summer months or cold winter day hoping it will use a dog house that is not heated or ventilated?

I agree, but could be fun to relax on a porch and have the dog relax in the cute house right next to you!!
