Christmas time with your dogs.your loved buddys Do you do special things with your dogs at Xmas? When we bought our f resh tree they came along. Such a fun time. We put up the tree the week before Xmas. I do popcorn. Hot toddy nuts and chips n dip. When putting up the outside lights we watch then I take them for a run. Hot caramel drink which they get a taste of I home feed all year but Xmas day they have a special meal just like we do If you care to share if you do special events or things, I'd love to hear them. Bye for now |
I wrap presents for them and they love opening them and shredding the paper. |

Of course! We usually, pre-covid, go to the local garden center that has an illuminated display of lights EVERYWHERE and they do a huge event where Santa comes and they turn all the lights on at once. Jackson loves it, i'm so glad he's such a good dog in public and enjoys these events with us. They each have their own stocking of course and get Christmas presents as well. |
Woohoo lucky dogs! |
Piper participates in any festivities that may be going on and always "dresses" for the occasion in one of her many sweaters. However, seeing that everyday is Christmas for Pipe, we don't do anything extra special; she doesn't much like toys and wants only specific treats. As long as we go for a walk, it's a merry and festive day! I'm blessed to have such an easy little girl. |
Indeed you are🙂 |

This is our first Christmas with Jazzy so I find this fun to think about. Perhaps our new traditions will be the same as some of the other members - let her rip up her packages (tearing up paper is one of her favorite things to do) and wear a fancy Christmas outfit. Great idea for a thread. |
Pre-Covid I would take my pups to Petco to get their pics with Santa every year |
We take Jake out for a walk but not this year due to the COVID but, as always, we will certainly buy him a present and wrap it up with Christmas paper, he enjoys tearing up the paper and playing with his new toy. |
My problem with the paper shredding, one of mine with my other one are paper shredders and Eaters. |

Wow what will they think of next? |
I stopped wrapping and having my pups shred their gifts open years ago. When I had a pack of 3, they use to shred the paper off their gifts when one year, tree decorated, all family, friends and the pups gifts were wrapped. The pups gifts were at the very top of the pile around the tree. I came home from work and every single wrapped gift was shredded, boxes ripped clothing gifts strewn throughout the house, their Christmas toys scattered about. There wasn't a room that didn't have shredded wrapping paper or someones gift in it. Lesson learned, no more allowing dogs to shred their prezzies open. |

Emma does get wrapped gifts but that's bout it. |
My Granddog, Ranger, is a 110 lb. American Bulldog whose predecessor American Bulldog, Tex, absolutely loved ripping the boxes our presents and his were wrapped in to total shreds and the floor looked like New Years Eve after midnite confetti dump when we're done opening presents and Tex was done shredding! He seemed to have a grudge against the corners and hardest parts of the box and used his powerful jaws to totally shred even the biggest boxes and no corners were ever left. If you love dogs and love to see one get to indulge himself once a year, you'd have loved spending Christmas day at our house with the late, great Tex. Love to see a dog being a dog once in a while but the clean-up took an hour!!!! It was worth it to us to get to see Tex have such fun! Ranger seems a softer dog, not to in love with turning boxes and wrapping paper to tiny pieces but he's young yet! Can't wait to get my hands on him! He's got the smushiest, sweetest face and muzzle! Such a sweetheart! Due to Covid, my son and I have kept apart except for short masked, gloved visits sans Ranger and Thanksgiving will be my first change to see Ranger himself in month and get the full onslaught of a 110 lb. big powerful bully dog all over me!!! Can't wait!! |
Wow Jeanie. It sounds fun. I can tell you are so looking forward.to the big day with the big dog:) |

I'm getting ex excited. Thinking about what toys and food t.o buy and enjoy. I've settled on fish and roast beef meals. Brunch and dinner. Mid afternoon walk. Hot toddies. Then quiet time before dinner. |

I do remember Tibbe mostly always getting up onto and lying down on the couch and avidly watching everything I or we did in putting up and decorating the tree. He didn't move during the whole time, just watched like a hawk. Once the process was over and we started putting the ornament boxes, etc., away, cleaning up, he'd jump down and sniff all around the tree for long minutes several times the rest of that day. For weeks he'd walk up to and sniff the tree and the entire area around it. Seemed just fascinated by the Christmas tree but never took anything off it or disturbed the presents. |
