Pee Pad Help My 4 month old puppy has been using her pee pads just great. Now, Suddenly she will only use the one in our sunroom. She won’t use the ones in our living room or dining room. Need some good advice, please |
I found Gidget did better if there was only ONE pee pad for her to use. No confusion - she knew where it was. |
PEE PEE Help Agree one location, no confusion |
Unpopular opinion but my advice is to throw them away entirely. Crate train and take your baby outside. Pee pads can be confused with rugs or carpet eventually and if you want to save your floors and not have your house smell like dog take them outside. I will admit there have been small accidents but potty training a yorkie should be frequent and consistent. Tried pee pads (disposable and washable ) with both my yorkies and I always ended up frustrated from pee/poo on the floor. |

She does very well on her one pad. Uses it to pee and poop nearly all the time. She sleeps in her crate beside our bed and lets us know when she has to go. We take her out to our porch, she goes and we all go back to bed. No worries about weather or getting dressed to go out. Just wished she used her pads inside our main living area. But if this is the best she can do that will be fine. Hopefully she will use the others as she matures. They have always worked well for us for many years. So will continue to use them. |
All my puppies were pad trained, one pad in one location, no confusion. When they had their last vaccine at 5 months old then house breaking began. Pads do have their advantages, such as in your case, especially when the weather is bad. Each dog is different, if several pads in different locations worked for your other yorkies, that doesn't mean it will work for all. I would do the one pad, the one she uses most. Once she uses that one pad all the time and knows what the pads are to be used for, then put ones where you want them and see if she'll use them. |

She does use the one in our sunroom/porch 100% of the time. But perhaps she just needs to become more comfortable using the other one in our living area. At night we take her out to the porch/sunroom, she pees and poops and we all go back to bed. That will probably continue as I want her to sleep in her crate by our bed. Plus, eventually she may sleep through the night. We will just keep working with her to use the inside one. |
