I have to admit that it was kind of cute and funny the first few times — although I tried hard not to let him realize I thought so. Now it’s just frustrating, though. I’ve been keeping his water dish picked up, as much as possible, and just putting it down to offer him a drink every hour or two. A little bit ago, he drank and drank like he was dying of thirst when I put his dish down, which made me feel really guilty... until I literally walked three steps away and he immediately had both front paws in the dish, splashing.

The tug of war with the towel reminds me of when Callie was a puppy and when she would have an accident on the carpet I would set the scrub brush on the floor to soak it up with a paper towel and spray the cleaner and she would take off with the scrub brush lol.

I’m trying a new kibble bowl today. It’s at least slowing down his efforts to scatter his kibble across the kitchen. I haven’t figured out a solution for the water yet.

Perhaps an elevated water bowl might work? Chewy has a bunch of different types of elevated bowls.....

But maybe just Google....there are SO many!

You’ve had smaller yorkies. Jax is less than five pounds and has a short, compact body type. How far could a bowl be elevated and still let him comfortably drink water?

Probably a few inches. Why not play around with the one he has...raise it up on something and see how it works out? I have a little one who has to have his food bowl elevated to eat and he does well.
