My Lillie got to come see me in the hospital! As some of you may know, I recently underwent surgery for lung cancer. Luckily it was caught early and my prognosis is very good. I was hospitalized at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA and they have a program called Pet Therapy. Your pet can come and visit in the hospital. My husband brought Lillie to see me almost every night! She got to know everyone on the floor and made her "rounds" every time she visited. It is a wonderful program. I can't tell you how much it cheered me up to see her and get to cuddle with her every evening. Since I've been home she has hardly left my side. |
awww, how sweet! i am happy to hear that you are doing well :D |
Cheryl!! Welcome home!! So happy that you are back home and things are going well! Congrats on beating cancer!! Feels good, doesn't it?? I am a one year breast cancer survivor myself, and I love that victorious feeling!! Keep on healing, my friend! Give that little nurse girl Lilly puppy kisses from Wosie! :p |
That's great to hear about a hospital that has that! Pet therapy is such an underestimated project. I'm glad to hear you are doing well! |
It is sooo good to hear that you are doing good! And that is awesome that your hospital let your baby be with you!!! |
Isnt that wonderful...Pets always have a way to make you smile :) It is great to hear you are doing well :) XoXoXoXo Fran and Sammi |
What a wonderful idea for a healing program! I am often visiting the hospital and can imagine how seeing a cheerful little dog would brighten so many days....especially the owner! I hope that you continue to do well! Keep your chin up and that positive attitude....it will help you tremendously! :) Women are so very strong! |
I wish they had that program here! I am so happy to hear that you are doing better! |
First of all, glad to hear your prognosis is good, and I wish you continued good news on your health! I think that it is great that the hospitals are allowing pets to visit. My father fell 2 yrs ago and broke his hip and was in the hospital (in South Carolina) for a couple of weeks with complications. They would let my niece bring his little Shih tzapoo (sp) in to visit him. Since my parents are retired little Beau is with them 24/7. So with my dad gone and my mom spending so much time at the hospital, I'm sure he missed them. I think that it was the hightlight of both of their days!! Last year when Teri88 was in the hospital here in Jersey, didn't they allow Tucker to visit her? I certainly hope this is a trend that is catching on! |
I am glad that you are doing well. It is very nice that your yorkie could visit you.. All the hospitals should be like that.. Plus yorkies don't shed! :) |
So happy you are doing so well. Bet Lillie put a smile on everyone face that she saw. |
Pets are such great therapy! They are so innocent and simple and only want to make a person happy! Hope you continue to heal and your Lillie continues to do her therapy on you. :aimeeyork |
How wonderful for you! And i'm so happy to hear you got a speedy diagnosis and treatment. You are in my prayers sweetie! I wish more hospitals and centers would allow the patient's pets to visit. I actually "sneaked" one of my babies in Brenner Children's hospital once to visit my nephew who was left with brain damage after a seizure. He was a in a soft carrier that looked like my handbag...a big hand bag, but hey! The nurses never knew! :) |
I didn't know about your illness and will be praying for you! I'm so glad the prognosis is good! It is great that Lily got to come visit you! I think anyone in the hospital that owns a pet should be able to see that pet! It does a body good!!! Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery...Lily will help make that happen!!! *HUGGGG* |
Thanks everyone for your kind words! I am back at work as of yesterday and I don't think Lillie understands why I'm not home wrpped in a quilt on the couch every day! It was hard to leave her to come back to work after spending everyday with her for 3 weeks! |
