Jax is home from surgery 1 Attachment(s) I just brought Jax home from his surgery. He’s a little groggy still, but he seems fine. He had his neuter, he had three baby teeth pulled, and he had his microchip implanted. The vet said the neuter was a cake-walk, and the teeth were loose and about to fall out, so he didn’t even need a stitch in his mouth. The only problem, for me, was that I was expecting to get a call between 10 and 12, but I didn’t get a call until almost 2pm. The vet was very apologetic — she had an emergency surgery this morning that she had to do before Jax’s surgery. But by almost 2, I was thinking Jax’s anesthesia had gone wrong and she was working up the resolution to call and tell me.... Anyway, I’m just glad it’s over. Now is the really fun part: making him rest for seven to ten days. This is yesterday, after his pre-surgery bath. Still a scruff-ball, although he’s getting a little better about the brush, believe it or not. Attachment 413548 |
I am so very happy to hear that Jax is home and on the road to recovery! Keeping him quiet will be a task, but I know you are thankful and relieved that he made out fine. Although I did not want to share while you were waiting to send him in, my husband and I were one of the rare dog parents who lost our little boy, Tucker, during his neuter. He was a little one, only a few ounces shy of 4 pounds, and we had waited until he was 8 months old so that he would reach that weight. We did all the pre-op blood work, and he was a strong, sweet little man, but we got that terrible call telling us that he did not come out of the anesthesia. When we shared the sad news with his breeder, she told us that Tucker's mother had just been diagnosed with a small hole in her heart, and our vet felt that Tucker might have inherited the problem. When we brought Tyrone and Gus home, the two absolute worst days of our lives were the days that we sent them in for their neuter. Both of them did fine, thank God, but those hours at the vet were torture. Again, I am so very happy that all went well for Jax. Send him an 'atta boy from Tyrone and Gus, and spoil him rotten with lots of love during his recovery! (((hugs))) |
awwww.......get well soon. When Duchess was spayed, she was playing when I went to pick her up, had a hard time keeping her calm.......couldn't believe it. I started to wonder if they actually perform the surgery:confused: |

OMG, I would of been a wreck. It's one of my biggest fears. I've have pets my entire life and they all have been spayed or neutered. Thankfully I've not lost any of them because being spayed or neutered but it's always agonizing when they are in surgery. I'm so sorry for you lost. |

So glad everything went well! They heal fast. By the 3rd day keeping Joey chill was almost impossible. It is easier though with one then multiples because multiples tend to egg each other on lol. |
Great news that Jax did fine, thank GOD that's out of the way. Yep, keeping him calm is gonna be a job lol, these pups bounce back so fast. |

This morning, Jax wants to express his total agreement with Duchess, Joey and Gidget: this “stay still and rest” thing is not fun or even acceptable. Neither is the e-collar, which he absolutely hates. It’s going to be a long, long seven to ten days. |
