Rabies Exemption I know there are different laws and rules by state and that some don’t do it but has anyone gotten a rabies exemption? Normally I would just talk to my vet about it but I can’t in person with all that’s going on and I’m very uncomfortable on the phone. I want to see if I can do it for Callie. Not due to her age but mostly her Cushings. They say not to give vaccines to unhealthy dogs and I feel like Callie qualifies as that. Right now we are pretty much just keeping her comfortable and just on the necessary medicine her thyroid pills, pain management meds, and blood pressure pills. Most of you probably read her post where her muscles are wasting away due to the Cushings. She has stayed at 13 and a half pounds for several weeks and is doing well right now. She’s not really a risk. She only goes outside to potty and generally outside of the house just for grooming. If for some reason she goes on a walk she is only in the stroller. I just can’t seemed to find a guide line for what generally qualifies and what doesn’t. She isn’t due until August so I have time. Just wondering if anyone has done it before and why and how was the process? |
https://www.rabieschallengefund.org/...cal-exemptions Sick or immuno compromised dogs should not be vaccinated. You might ask your vet about titers to see if she still has antibodies active from prior vaccines. If you do get an exemption, you may have to sign a paper making you totally responsible if she should bite someone, and the state would require her to be euthanized. You basically sign in agreement of that. That’s the last I heard 2-3 years ago. |
I found this on google. I don’t know whether it’s up to date, but it’s a place to start if you live in Maryland. https://phpa.health.maryland.gov/OID...MDH%204791.pdf |

I tried to get an exemption for Piccolo when she came down with cutaneous vasculitis at the age of 3. She was so sick but still could not get an exemption from the state and my vet tried. I'm for vaccines, but in this case I became a rebel about it. She lived a long and happy life until she passed last year at 14 and a half with no vaccines after the age of 3. I just used an in-home dog sitter and never took her on an airplane or around anyone's pet I did not know. Her health was more important than the law, in my humble opinion, so that's what I did. |

I asked my vet if he had to turn me in and he said for all he knew Piccolo got her vaccine from another place. It clearly says on the vaccine packages not to give if they have health problems. I did titer once, so perhaps you could do something like that. As I said before, I am not anti-vaccine at all, but sometimes you have to think out of the box. |

She isn't due until August so I know you'll get to talk to her vet about it by the time it's due and just don't get it if you feel it would hurt her, even if your vet disagrees, thinks she should have it. She's never out and about where she could get it so no need to worry it out yet. |
Hey, Do your pup or pet like instrumental voice? Do they love to listen it? or you trained them accordingly. Whereever they listen this flute or whtevr they'll sit and hear it. |
