Puppy Size My son got a new yorkie puppy (Jake) from Santa. He was really for me so I'll just be honest. I'm a yorkie lover. I already have a female that is almost 7. He was bred to a 4 pound female and 5 pound male. I just purchased a digital scale and at 10 weeks, Jake weighs a little over 3 pounds. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a large dog. Any thoughts??? |
Its really hard to tell. But they do slow down. My snickers was about 2.4 oz at 10 weeks and now at 14 weeks he's about 3 lbs |
I just put him back on the scale (hoping he would be still this time) and he is more like 4 pounds. He is tall already. I hope he slows down. |
:wavey: Welcome to yorkie Talk my scrappy was 3.4at 12 weeks and at and at 21 weeks he was 5.6 pounds now hes 2 years old hes 7.5 pounds love to see pics of your baby. :) |
Cali was 1lb at 10 weeks and now at 7 months is 3lbs 14 ounces. I would guess Jake will be obver 6 lbs maybe closer to 7, which is a good size. Cali is still a little to fragile. |
puppys size Peanut was 3.11(lbs) at 9weeks and he is now 8.4lbs at 5months.Vet says he will grow to 12lbs. I dont think he will get to 12lbs. maybe 10lbs.LOL thats OK more to love! Peanuts Mom is 5lbs and Dad 3lbs. I beleive you take the weight at 12weeks or 13weeks and Double it that will give you adult weight. |
Sounds like he may be closer to 7 if not a little over...but you never really know. |
size I think this is quite common to hear the pup is much larger then the parents...but many times when the parents are actually put on a scale they turn out to be much bigger. I used to have a couple 3 pound males..but everyone who saw them thought they was the tiniest Yorkies ever..I would run into people who asked if I was the breeder with the one pound studs? So maybe the parents are a bit bigger..in any case your Yorkie does not sound huge..he will not be a tiny, but not a horse either..LOL |
