My dads siblings are sadly are some of those people not taking it seriously and having events and get togethers. My birthdays today so Im just enjoying it with those that live in my home.

On a local Facebook group I was saying how I feel very lucky to have a home and a home with A/c and heat, television, internet and other luxury’s to have to stay in. It’s not like that walking dead tv show we are still very lucky.

I heard a sports DJ on radio say his mother was still going out whenever she wanted to shop and live almost as usual. He said she says that she's retired and nobody's going to tell her what to do and how to live her life and off she goes. In Dallas County now, we at least have to wear a face covering to hopefully protect others, so I guess she's now wearing a scarf or something over her nose and mouth but that attitude is likely making an already highly contagious disease even worse.

We are in the beginning of a world wide Pandemic, non-essential business are shut down, people are not even allowed in vets office, dogs are taken at curb side or emergency care only. I have told you this before, this is not the time to be looking to rescue. And you living in NYC that has the highest cases of Covid-19, you should be self isolating not looking to be scampering about period. No one looking to re-home will let you in to look at a dog, life is at a stand still right now. I understand you want a BFF for your baby but it ain't gonna happen now, life is to unstable, and you do not have a car, no one will travel to NYC to you in these dangerous times. You are going to have to wait for that rescue PLEASE.

Why not just relax and join in on YT threads from the safety of your home ;)

Heard a lot of pounds are empty, many people getting pups because of the quarantine and they are home and available to train them. Try SAY or look on Petfinder.

:thumbup::thumbup: I have seen the awesome pictures and videos of shelters being completely empty. I just hope after this that they aren’t returning them. I went nuts for a bit and considered a pup :eek:

I wonder, too, but also wonder if the time away from the cages gives some respite to an animal that habituates to a new situation, even for a few days. I worry it's a terrible disruption in the animal's cage life that they might have accommodated to and returning them back to it will be worse for them. But I'm also told by animal experts that dogs live in the moment and enjoy any good times they have right then so hopefully going back into a cell or cage is what's happening at that moment and they can't discern that it's a big setback, even a death sentence in some cases; and just recall for a while that the former life they came to know as a routine, the scents and whatever lifestyle they had in the immediate past fades over time and establish a current routine, sometimes based on their past lifestyle, if they are allowed to establish a new routine in their own, without any human intervention. It's said that dogs can adapt to any new lifestyle within a few days unless their former life damaged them physically or psychologically re-programmed their brains due to its horrors or neglect, abuse, or regular routines, be they beneficial or harmful.

I tend to think that whatever respite they might have had out of any cage is better than staying there to that dog but how can I know for sure, even after years of rescuing, fostering, rehabbing and having my own personal dogs. I have my opinion from my own experiences with dogs I've had here but that's all.

It looks like my over concern with bleaching everything under the sun holds merit. I've been spraying our shoes with lysol. I like the idea of taking them off and leaving them in bags.
