Coronavirus closing grooming shops
 

Just want to let everyone know big name store groomers and local groomers are starting to shut down. My groomer called to let me know she had to cancel our appointment because she isn’t grooming after Saturday and the shop might even close after then. I was looking at one place that has absolutely no bad reviews and my soon to be aunt used them. I sent them an email that was as long as a book telling them about Callie’s issues, asking questions and making it clear these are my babies. I was very happy with the response I got. Well I had also asked for recommendations on our local county Facebook page. Well I got a Facebook message from a lady named Mary who works at the grooming place I’m interested in and we talked back and forth for awhile and I finally looked at her profile and it was Callie’s old groomer from many years back who groomed her at Petco and did amazing yorkies faces. I confirmed it was her and she remembered it was me and my grandma who would bring Callie in. She had left about when I did. Well I wanted to wait a week but she messaged me early today to tell me they were closing after Saturday. So I called and they have four groomers and under Mary’s instruction will do all four at the same time at 8am tomorrow. I’m nervous but I really like Mary and everything sounds great. My youngest 3 have only been done by my one groomer so I’m nervous for them mostly though just Ollie because he is so shy and timid and gets scared easily. I’m happy to get this done though before all the shops close and hopefully in 6-8 weeks they will all be back up and running.

It went awesome with the new groomer! It’s $60 more but they all went in at the same time, no cages, and everyone was relaxed and happy! Callie was not sore from standing because they gave her breaks. So thrilled.

That's really great she got all the pups in at the same time. I am wondering about my groomer, she grooms in her home. She has a little shop on the ground floor of her home. Cody's next appt. is April 8th. It will be up to her to close shop or continue, her choice.

Glad to hear all went well.

I'm waiting til all this passes. My groomer is mobile and have some time before Emma's next groom isn't due yet but I have given her a bath to freshen her up.

For those wanting to learn to groom yourself you should look up some YouTube videos. Its worth the investment!

My groomer called last Friday she is self isolating, Cody's appointment was for Wed. the 8th. The thought of no groomer for a couple of months is freaking me out. Its mainly his nails not being clipped and I won't do nails anymore, I use to do the tippy tips of my girls until I got the quick, I never so so much blood and it was just the very tip on the nail, lucky for me the corn starch was easily accessible, I will not do nails, Cody will look like a hot mess, he does not have straight hair, it's wavy :eek:

They have nail grinders and files but some dogs really hate the noise they make. The groomer we last used is staying open. They straight up asked if they were essential and they were told in writing yes so they stayed open. They are doing curb service though and no customers are allowed in the building. I think in May things will start to slowly go back. At least I hope and pray so.

All groomers are shut down in Kentucky. They had an appointment for last Wednesday, but obviously could not go.

My girls desperately need a cut. I can do their nails and give them a bath, but not sure how to tip the ears or what to do about the bottom of their paws. Poor things. I do have some type of clippers I bought awhile back but never used. Any suggestions?

Cody will not tolerate nail grinder so said my groomer, my groomer did mention maybe May but she's not sure.

Thumper desperately needs a groom as well. He is so shaggy it is getting awful. He is having soft poop because of his GI issues and it keeps getting stuck in his hair because he needs his but shaved and cleaned.

He is going to the Vet tomorrow and I will see if they can clip his nails.

Bella is shaggy but her hair is easier to manage.

I can't wait until I can get them to the groomers.

Isn't it GREAT when things work out like that!??? And I bet they EACH look cute for Easter!

I found a little bitty Trimmer, Yorkie Sized at a Farm Store, on Clearance, just after bringing Katy home. I am trying to learn to use it.



One thing I learned many years ago....with my Cockers....even a bad hair cut looks ok after a week or so. BAHAHAHAHHAH!!!

When I had my girls, they were kept in long coat, I would clip the hair around their butts with a scissor, you can give that try for now.

My mobile groomer here in MD is closed. She closed, then re-opened when I sent her the link that groomers were considered essential, but then when he did the stay at home order she closed again. Jackson's appt is the last weekend of April and he will definitely need it. Not sure if she will be able to open by then.
