WooHoo! |
Congrats to staying cool yesterday, Mom. Every time you leave them at the vet's for dental cleaning, the pit in your stomach gets worse, doesn't it, no matter how judicious your dental homecare is? And the relief when it's over and you get the call to come pick them up overwhelms the day! As Tibbe got older and older, I was almost afraid to tell anybody about his being at the vet's for dental cleaning, like I could jinx it or something and I'm not otherwise EVER superstitious. Maybe I was just too tense to put it into words on a thread, so I stopped sharing about it. So glad all went well and here's hoping Cody's choppers stay gleaming and healthy! |
Good to hear that Cody is doing so well, good teeth. |

I was sick all day, they make you sign a paper saying you will not call to see when pup is ready to pick up to 9PM, after 9 its ok to call, plus 12 other scary things you had to ok or not. I dropped him off at 7:30AM, They told me he could be ready between 1 and 3 PM. To keep my mind off the time I went to some stores further then where I live. It's now 3PM and no call, so I come home trying not to go into panic mode. 4PM all sorts of things are going through my mind, he died on the table, they know how I am, their tossing coins who is going to call me with the bad news. 5:10PM, screw them, I'm calling. Receptionist did not chastise me (lucky her lol) she puts me on hold for a minute or two, comes back, tells me to pick him up at 5:50PM. I was wondering had I not called, how long would they have kept him. My vet is 35 minute drive, so I fly out after the call, pedal to the medal in my 1.8 liter buggy and get there 5:50 on the nose. To think next year I have to go through again. He had a dental in 2018, I do not recall him being at the vet 10 plus hours. Thank GOD he was fine, for the 35 minute ride home he told me all about his horrible day, Cody is quite verbal when he wants something, but this ride home he was non stop lol, poor baby. As soon as we came in the house I fed him, then he quieted down lol. |
Joan, that sounds excruciating! But so many otherwise reputable medical/veterinary clinics mostly seem to be the same these days - chronically too busy, too little staff. Patient demand at a clinic usually dictates how the day goes and one single patient's sudden, dire situation can derail the whole schedule while other anxious patients and family wait in reception or at the other end of the phone line. I'd be calling just like you did after all that time. Yikes! Can't imagine what images your nerves called up while you were distraction-shopping and the clock ticked on and on. Thank God Cody is fine and safe at home. Hugs! |

Woohoo! Jackson and Lola had their dentals last Monday.... Jackson is 11 years old. He had 2 teeth pulled (he's had 9 teeth pulled total, in his life). Lola, 5 years old, first dental. She ended up needing 6 pulled. Mostly lower incisors. It is always SO nerve wrecking but so worth it afterwards. So happy Cody did not need any pulled! |

My vet luckily called me right at 12:30pm. I dropped them off around 7:30am and they were done by noon. I picked them up around 3:30pm. |

2018 Cody had his dental and there was nothing stating not to call. My vet has a very large practice and fully staffed, very very busy place. I can kinda understand the no calling. I attached that form, does anyone have a form similar to this where they have to initial each paragraph then sign your name at the bottom. I do know, years back, while I was in the waiting room, some man came in carrying a German Shepard dog he had just hit with his car, then he left. Weeks later I am back at the vet, I asked about that dog, the tech told me it had a broken leg, they did the surgery and the dog was fine. There was no micro chipping back then. They had the dog 3 weeks before the owner showed up, the owner refused to pay for the surgery, threatened to sue them for not getting their permission to perform the surgery, he took his dog and left. I don't know the outcome of that. Since then my vet covers her butt with everything and I believe the reason for this form. |
