Weepy Eyes What causes this? I have to wipe Gidget's eyes first thing in the morning and last thing at night. |
Possibly allergies or no humidly in air now that we are using furnaces. Just a thought. |
Thanks, Matese. I live in an apartment - all electric which means no humidity in the air. It's gotten worse since the weather has turned colder. Will just keep wiping her eyes morning and night. |
They say almost every thing can cause it lol seriously. Plastic dishes, certain food, allergies, environment, and so on. Joey has the kind that will actually leave tear stains while all of the others just kinda get booger’s. I clean the in the morning and at night. I just used a wet paper towel. If Joeys gets really bad I get the area wet and use a flea comb. When I first got Joey at 9 weeks the other 2 owners never cleaned his eye drainage and he had huge chunks of grossness that when between me and the vet and a tech got it cleaned there were sores from it eating into the skin and irritating it. |

Thanks, Matese. Will try opening a window. Have limited space in my small apartment for a humidifier. Of course, if opening window doesn't help, then will have to find space for a humidifier. |
Here is an update on Gidget's weepy eye problem. Mentioned this to my daughter who started doing some research. Recommendation was to switch her dog food to a salmon based food. Started the gradual switch from Royal Canin for Yorkies to one with salmon as the main ingredient. Started this a month ago and seeing some good results. Not as much (in fact very little) draining and goop around the eyes and also improvement in her poop. Much better consistency and more regular. Looking forward to the switch being complete.:) |
Great, happy to hear you found something that works. |
Me, too.:) |
