Gidget is so flexible. She just "goes with the flow". |

The onyl thing I disagree with is whether it's ever "best" to put yorkies in diapers for life. I get it if they are sick or have disablities ok, but to just say fine i will not stick with it to train 3 of you not to pee everywhere seems beyond belief. (And sorry I know you have trained your baby, just dont know how to quote other posts right). |

To to OP - I saw that in earlier threads you wrote that your boy goes mostly on the pee pad and occasionally marks, then you wrote later that you started using belly bands and that he started going less to the pad and more everywhere else.. don't you think the band/diaper is just not fixing the problem but actually making it worse? I 100% understand using the belly bands due to illness, incontinence, disability, old age and other specific cases but your boy is still young, but are you going to have him in a band/diaper forever? Why not take some time and patience and retrain him just like you would do a puppy? No free run of the house, potty schedule and positive reinforcement? |
Hi there, I need in on this conversation. I am in the process of adopting a 3 year old male that is not neutered. He will be once I adopt him. The breeder told me that she uses diapers.....YUCK...So, she was suggesting I do the same. I have had three Yorkies so far, and I never used diapers. I trained them to use pee pads and going outside. The issue will be if he is marking and peeing on furniture. So, I plan on training him like a puppy. At first, I will put pads out and take him outside together with my other Yorkie which is potty trained. If I see him marking, I will put him in the play pen. Any input is appreciated. THANKS.... |

I had an older Cocker Spaniel that we got as an adult....that was not housebroken well. He was a good boy, most of the time, but now and again, if you were not watching.....let's say/call it, he forgot. So I made him, "Belly Bands". I measured him, used a T-shirt like fabric, with human baby cloth diapers in between. I used Velcro to attach them over his back, I made 3 sets for washing. They worked Great. And I must also add, rarely did we/he need them, but when he did, I was so glad to have them on him. |

OH OH! I forgot to say.....with a Waterproof layer between the inside layers of diaper cloth and the outside layer of cotton/t shirt print! Woooooops! Sorry, and yeah, THAT matters. I made these about 8 inches wide. On a dog the size of a Yorkie, of course, I would have made them less wide. |

This was an older dog that we did not raise. WE DID work with him, but I did not want pee all over my house. So WHILE working with him, we put these on him. I removed them off of him as he went outdoors and put them back on when he came in. You must have me confused with someone else. I attacked NO ONE. But yes. I would CERTAINLY keep a dog away from dirty diapers....ANY dog. Dirty Diapers should be kept away from all of us.....humans and animals. |
