Addison’s Disease Anyone have experience with this? My dog has been having diarrhea and some vomiting since last month and antibiotics have not helped. Now they think it may be Addisons. I am familiar with Addisons in humans. It not in dogs. The new medication, that she has even on for 2 days now, seems to be helping. I know that humans can live well for a long time with Addisions withe medication but don’t know about dogs. Any information will help! |
I wish I could help but I don’t know to much about it. It’s considered pretty rare. Maybe this will help some https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions...drenocorticism |
Thank you Taylor! I had read that article and am researching the disorder pretty extensively. Always nice to talk with someone who has experienced it - that is why I reached out. Waiting for the rest of the lab work to come back, but she has had the best 4 days that she has had in the 5 weeks so I am hopeful we are on the right track. Like you pointed out it is not very common. She has the fact that she is very, very healthy going for her! |

I have an older girl with Addisons. Shes on a daily med and once a month injection. When she has flare ups it's called an addisons crisis and it begins with throwing up and diarrhea and each time shes admitted as they have to do alot of fluids or she could die. It's scary not gonna lie but we are maintaining and shes doing well. Quote:

Jackson was tested for this (ACTH test) as he had almost all the symptoms. Test came back negative. He had diarrhea for over a month in Dec into January. So frustrating and scary. Also some vomiting but not much. We did every test under the sun.... I was shocked when the Addisons came back negative. Otherwise, I do not know a ton about it, but I am sorry you are going through this. :( If you need any other tips and tricks about what I did and what stopped the diarrhea for Jax, let me know. |
