Hill's Pet Nutrition confirms the company has discontinued production and sale of its Hill's Ideal Balance dry and wet dog foods. No reason for this action has been given.

It was not recalled. They just discontinued it....much to my disappointment as my healthy pups were on it.

I am signed up for recall alerts and didn’t hear anything about this. Are you sure it’s a recall and they just didn’t stop making it?

No worries, but this is exactly why we should always fact check before sharing. The amount of misinformation these days is mind blowing. I see stuff on FB all the time that is either years old or simply false yet people keep on sharing.

I just got the email and they sent it out with the title recall so I understand how it got confused but it’s not a huge deal.

I think I see at a minimum 5 a day that are false on fb and a lot of people don’t care which is what is bothersome. People don’t realize with false posts the can ruin a business or person or so on.

This is a good lesson learned and I appreciate my "teachers" advising me to fact check in the future. I want to keep our pups safe, but do not want to inadvertently harm a good company.

I hope you are not offended. I learned the same way you did....I shared something one day on Facebook and it was false.
We do these things with no malicious intent.

This would not have jumped out at me if not for the fact I was using the food when they discontinued it.

I can’t imagine how much of a pain switching foods like that with no warning is. Heck when a company that I was using their treats to put Callie’s pills in stoped making them it was a huge deal finding something she would take her pills in.

It was the second time it had happened and I was less than pleased BUT they were great on the phone letting me know my options. I almost went with RC Yorkshire Terrier but ended up with Hill's .. very similar food and my pups like it. I was able to change it slowly but honestly I don't think it would have mattered. So...it all worked out.
