Heat wave So is everyone one surviving this heat? It has been bad here. The above ground pool we have is 95 degrees . We normally keep our house at 69 degrees but with all the heat and even all the ceiling fans on it’s staying at 75 degrees in the house. I can tell it’s supper hot when Joey who never gets hot is laid out on his side stretched all out. It’s been 99 degrees for like 2 days and still high 90’s 2 days before that! |
It's been mid 90's here on the mountain, AC and ceiling fans getting a work out. It's been so hot out even Cody runs back in after potty lol. Heat wave has finally broken for us today, high to be 79 what a joy, now we can get some outdoor time. |

It's very humid in Wisconsin and Friday/Saturday we had Heat Advisory Warnings. Temperature on thermometer was 94, heat index took the "feel like" up to 107 degrees! Needless to say, we stayed inside until the thunderstorms moved through Sunday morning! |
Haha, like your Joey, Tibbe is no fan of summer! In Texas, summers are bearable because of air conditioning and cloud-cover when we can get it! Tibbe is a BIG fan of A-C, loves cold weather, will stand out in the snow as long as you'll allow it but once his housebreaking training was done, in hot weather he goes potty outside about 3 - 4 times every 24 hours. He'll hold it as long as he possibly can, sometimes until he's about to go and suddenly jumps up, barks sharply, runs to the door and begins to act like he's about to assume the position! I've learned to react sharply and get him out fast as possible. Heck, sometimes I procrastinates 'til the last minute, too, but it's very clear he doesn't want to spend any extra time out in the heat, puts off going outside as long as possible. Goes out, does his business and on very hot days stays in the shady part of the lawn, is ready to come right inside until evening, when he spends a bit more time outside, patrols the borders of the yard, does his sniffing all around the perimeter and spends some time communing through the fence with Rusty, the Corgi who lives next door, if he happens to be outside, too, but even so, in summer the outside stay is pretty brief. Contrast that to cool or cold weather, he's out there 6 times or more a day, the colder the better and reluctant to come inside. In cold weather, he'll stand at the far edge of the yard, nose in the air, luxuriating in the cold! When I first got him, the first thing he'd do on coming inside that summer was hot-foot it to the water bowl, drink, lie down with his belly flat on the tile floor under the den A-C vent and chill out. All these years later, he's the same. Cooled down, he spends some time with me, getting his "lovin's & huggin's & kisses" as we call our special Yorkie-time and then takes himself to the coolest part of the house, down the hall and takes a nap. My bedroom is always freezing in the summer so there or the hall leading to it is where I find him anytime I miss him! The first cool air that you can feel in the mornings or late evenings toward the end of summer, Tibbe always gets the zoomies and acts like he's had vitamin shots. He starts to act like himself again, always busy running things, usually into something. My little Yorkie is a cold-weather connoisseur. |

Tibbe is extremely put out anytime the power is out. Keeps wanting me to fix it, make all our stuff come back on so he stares, threat-growls at me(it's too cute for words that shortstack, 9"-at-the-withers terrier venting his spleen - sounds like he's been breathing helium when he growls!) for a long time and then paces and paces for the longest time to impress me he's not thrilled with my incompetence! |
My house is surrounded by 100 foot high oak trees, these high gusting winds scare the heck outta me, always afraid with all the rain last summer and so much snow this past winter and more rain this summer one of those trees will get up-rooted and land on my roof. These pups are so funny, my 2 now passed girls would bark and carry on when we had power surges, the lights would flicker on and off, the smoke detector would chirp and they would go crazy, Cody does the same thing lol, it's funny how this breed has the same characteristics, but are so different in many ways. That Mr Tibbe is quite the little character lol, they are so funny. |

It's true. Having one Yorkie is very like having all the others, most of them having such similar traits. I remember once the long drought after losing fragile, girlie-like little Jilly was over, when I brought Tibbe home, a totally different type Yorkie, very robust, foursquare, short, cobby little male fireplug, it was like having her again in most other ways. They all reek of Yorkiness! It's kind of like I've had the same eternal Yorkie most of my life, lucky me! :) |

When we get those 65 MPH winds with gusts of 85 MPH all I want to do is grab the kid, jump in my car and head to the nearest supermarket and wait it out, but, a captain always goes down with his ship and so I stay  |
