Hello everyone, advice needed Hi i live in scotland, and I am about to buy a yorkie puppy in the next two months but im undecided as to whether to opt for a girll or boy , i have been told that bitches can be incontinent after speying, is this true? ideallyi would prefer to see a litter and fall in love with a puppy of either sex but would definately want a girl speyed, All advice welcomed |
I have a 12 year old no incontinence issues and neither does my almost 3 year old. I grew up with mostly female dogs and we never had that issue. Males have to be neutered so keep that in mind too. I love the attitude females tend to have but I have found my boys are a bit more cuddly sometimes. It really honestly depends on the dog. I say go with what you want because this is a 13+ year commitment so you want to be happy. |
thanks for advice on speying Hi thanks for advice, you have just confirmed what I thought, that I should just fall in love with a puppy and find out the sex later. |
I have had 4 females all now passed, all were spayed and no incontinent. Maybe the person or ppl that told you that their female had UTI, that would cause constant urinating. Could be an "ole wives tale" also. Spaying does not cause incontinent. Good luck on which ever you choose, either sex will fill your heart with love and keep a smile on your face. |

I've had all females, all spayed and none of them had incontinence. |
:welcome4: :yorkietal :welcome4: So glad you joined our growing familly of Yorkie overs! As far as spayed incontinence, the only female we ever had with this probem was our beloved Boxer, Boo. She was 15 years old, had a congenital heart defect and it only started a few months before we lost her. Honestly, you should go with the gender that you are drawn to. Personaly, I prefer spayed females - not much of a problem with marking. |
