I am looking for a female yorkie
 
If anyone knows of a female yorkie in the s. Florida area or a rescue or a breeder, i would like to find a friend for my jojo. We lost rosie in december and simcha a few weeks ago. Jojo is 13 and lonely. Thanks edie

So sorry for your losses! I know, from experience, how sad the "left behind" furbaby can be...note we now have three dogs. Unfortunately, we have not had a positive enough experience with Florida breeders of our boys to recommend. Good luck with finding a new family member who will help fill your hearts! :love::love:

We really liked the breeder of our little girl Bailey. It is Blue Diamond Yorkies. They are in the northern part of the state, but if you can't find anyone closer they are a good option. She has a website that you can contact her on.

I personally would not feel comfortable with this breeder. She puts A LOT of emphasis on size. She has he page tagged as teacup Yorkies. She charges more for smaller ones then more average sized ones. She also gives full breeding rights which breeders who work very hard for their lines don’t do because they work very hard for their lines and want no one else to use them. They also ship cargo and that’s just not safe. Just my opinion. Real reputable breeders are very hard to find so sometimes you just have to pick the best of what you can find.

I think it’s a mistake to think that breeders who work very hard for a very long time to develop their lines would want no one else to use them. Generally speaking, I believe that’s not true. Many breeders who have something very good realize that they have a responsibility to the breed to get those genes out there. Not necessarily to the point of flooding the whole gene pool or anything like that, but I think many breeders understand that it would be wrong to say only they can have what they have. Certainly I do know there are some breeders who will never give breeding rights to anyone. And even take it a step further by saying that their dogs are not to be bred after they die. But, in my opinion, those breeders have completely missed the boat about the purpose of breeding.

Breeders do generally want other people to breed their dogs and they’d love to think that they helped to contribute to the overall improvement of the breed. Many of them seem to even have a huge interest in seeing even a beginner. They might even have an interest in becoming a mentor. And would love to see someone build on the progress that they themselves have made.

That’s just not true with reputable breeders. They do let some people breed them but only what they consider other reputable breeders not everyone. If they let everyone then their lines don’t mean that much. Also say you have a person who breeds an outstanding line with one that has terrible genetic issues but advertises how they used the outstanding lines and people buy the pups and they have terrible genetic issues well then the outstanding lines are tarnished and everything that reputable worked for is destroyed. There are other red flags also not just that anyway. Where there is a few red flags there could always be more. I get it’s personal because it’s your breeder.

No. It’s not personal and it’s not my breeder. I don’t know why you’d say that. Quite frankly that was a rude assumption to make and completely incorrect. I was just mentioning my thoughts on a point you made, and it may be a little bit off topic to the thread but I was just sharing my thoughts about what you said. And of course breeders want to see their life’s work in the gene pools to be properly perpetuated by the breeds caretakers instead of being abused or trashed in the disintegration of their breed. That’s a no brainer. But to say like you did that they won’t share what they have with others, that’s wrong. If you are a person of integrity and ethics and you have a passion for the breed, many reputable breeders will be willing to sell you a dog with breeding rights. You may disagree. And that’s fine. But please avoid making ridiculous assumptions and comments like you did by saying “I get it’s personal because it’s your breeder”. I didn’t even comment on that breeder. I commented on a general statement you made about breeders never selling a dog with breeding rights.

I’m sorry I did get you mixed up with another poster my fault. Reputable breeders will occasionally give breeding rights to other reputable breeders but they do not give breeding rights to EVERY buyer like the breeder mentioned does. Maybe I should have reworded it to they don’t don’t give breeding rights with every dog sold they vet and make sure who their breeding rights are going to and it generally would be another breeder who is reputable with a good reputation not just anyone or ever someone willing to pay a little bit more and it is to better the breed. You don’t want EVERYONE who buys a puppy breeding them or you aren’t doing right by the breed.
