Ok so I’m having harness issues. I am a big fan of the Buddy belts and always have been but with bigger Yorkies and also having 4 it’s very expensive to have and buy multiple buddy belts like about $100. My middle two also pull so I wanted an option to do no pull. Well I have the harness in picture one but when it’s hooked in the front and they pull Joey ends up getting his leg out and not even on purpose and it is fitted right. I also tried the easy walk and it just seems like it’s not made for small dogs and they come out of it. I saw this harness that I have in picture two and am thinking about getting it but was wondering if any one else had one like it. I don’t want anything that comes close to the neck that’s why I like the buddy belt. Anyway any harness opinions are wanted.

Have you tried the Puppia harnesses? They are much less expensive and come in all different sizes. Can't see how one of your little ones could escape from one of these. Good Luck!

Mine travel 1,300 miles one way at least twice a year to visit family, and I had always had problems with legs slipping out of the mesh-type harnesses during naps. Beau, our tiny poodle, is especially thin, and he has completely thrown his mesh harness when younger.

I am a total convert to Cindy Hice's harnesses! We have used them for all three for over one year, and not one little leg has slipped out. After losing our beloved Ozzie to CT, we are especially sensitive to any harness which comes near their throat/upper chest...these stay in place away from any "danger" area. In addition, being made from silk fabric, they do not tangle Tyrone's floor length coat, which is a big plus!

Cindy is a YT member (chattiesmom), and her harnesses are sold on her Etsy site foxypups. I would highly recommend trying one. Once they solved the problem of our "escape artist", we quickly ordered for each of the boys! They are so comfortable that we have our guys wear them all day when we are on trips, and they don't mind at all. It has been a tremendous relief to know that they are safe and comfortable!

Sadly there was some drama with that when I tried to get one for Callie many years ago so that is not an option for us. I don't really want to get into it on this thread though.

Most of them seem to go pretty high up on the neck.

Puppia will forever be my go to. I like the Rite Fit ones so it can be adjusted around the neck and doesn't have to go over the head. I also find they are harder for dogs to slip out of. I've never had my 2 choke with them and the pressure is not on the neck.

I also use the Premier 3-in-1 harness for Lola, because I like having the option of a front clip but most front clip harnesses fit funky and affect the way they walk. This one does NOT and does not mess with her shoulder or gait.

It seems like its a trial and error with choosing the best harness. Some work fine for other Yorkies but not with others. Hope you find the best fit for your little ones.

With four I have to decide who my guinea pig will be lol. Joey or Penny probably. Joey doesn’t even really know when he comes out of the one harness because he isn’t doing it on purpose. I really love the style of the buddy belt and how it lasts I just hate the price and I wish they would come out with a front leader or something. I hear the event that buddy belt goes to that they are much cheaper and stuff but they seem to all be in Canada. I think I might try a puppia.

That’s so true. Even with my four different ones work better for each one.

Playing devil's advocate for a second. I know BB's are expensive for the bigger guys, but they are also an investment piece. They last for a really long time. I'm hoping JakJak will grow into Kaji's size 3 BB's since rhey are all in GREAT shape.

I wish you luck on your journey to finding the perfect harness! I tried the duponi silk harness to try, and it gave Kaji rope burn. We've been super lucky once we found BB's. It's so hard to find the right harness.

I just wish they had a version to hook in the front. I do love the buddy belt. Callie ended up loosing weight due to her illnesses and I had to buy a smaller one so now I have 3 or 4 bigger ones in great shape but bigger size. I also hate that with four it’s really hard to have different colors due to price. One good thing is my boys are almost the same size so they can share them.

I am the odd ball who just never found them to work. I think they're great quality and look nice etc but it just... never worked for Jax as much as I wanted it to. I am not a huge fan of step in harnesses overall but I don't like how it sits on the dogs neck and I am not a fan of the large circular o-ring that moves on the back rather than a d-ring that can lay flat against their back if that makes sense. I think maybe for the smaller Yorkies, it's better, maybe because Jax is larger? I just didn't find it to be the best fit for him. We tried both 5 and 6 and he would've maybe fit better in an in between size of those.

Not everything is for everyone. :) Lots of YTers liked those duponi silk harnesses, yet I had MAJOR problems with them. It sucks, but I am glad we ended up finding something that worked for us. Besides, I don't think I could handle Jackson in anything but his Puppia harness, it's his signature look!

I think JakJak is between a 1 or a 2. The armholes of a 1 are too small, and the the 2 is just a smidge too big for his chest size. I don't want to risk him hurting from the size 1 BB rubbing, so he wears the 2 for now. Not all pups are straight sizes and we really need more variety. Aside from that, they're the best harness I have found for his size.

I'm surprised you hate the O ring! I don't like D-rings because they just never lay right! The straight part is suppose to be on flat their back, right? mine always move and end up in awkward positions.:confused: I don't have that problem with the O right.

I don’t think it’s that he is bigger because they worked for Callie and Sammy. I think dogs have different body types like humans so that may have been the issue.
