Fish Oil Is there a difference in the brands of fish oil. My vet wants me to start both Thumper and Bella on it. He said for Thumper it will help in his kidney disease. She recommended Free Form Snip Gel Capsules. I bought what he suggested but also wanted to see what other brands doggie parents use. I previously used the pump and got the fish oil on Amazon but stopped using it because it was a huge mess. The capsules so far are more hassle free. https://www.amazon.com/PHARMACEUTICA...K48V24GTF&th=1 |
I used to buy the liquid and mix it in baby food to get Callie to eat it. I would love to get her back on it but haven’t had time to look at what’s best yet and she takes so much medicine now. I did read how fish oil could cause prostate issues in male dogs a while back though. I will look into that and let you know if it was just a one article thing or something to be concerned about. |
Bonnie & Clyde is excellent. Personally, I would not use the Bayer one. It says "fish oil" in the ingredient, not sure what fish it comes from. I'm kind of anal about those things. Best oil should come from small oily fish, which B&C uses . They also have stellar reviews on amazon. Get the smallest bottle & store in the fridge. It will last about 2 months. Since fish oil starts to oxidize as soon as it's opened. https://bncpet.com/ |
My vet highly recommends Wellactin. https://www.amazon.com/Nutramax-Wela...-2-spons&psc=1 It has the proper formulation of fatty acids, EPA and DHA, etc, which is also good for the heart. |

I like that B&C uses natural form of sunflower for the vitamin E. Not mixed tocopherols, which is synthetic form. |
