Mean when wet I have two yorkies, Bailey and Lacey. When either one is wet, via bath, pool or rain, Bailey gets mean and attacks Lacey. It doesn’t matter which one is wet, Bailey always attacks. I have to keep them separated until dry. Ever hear of such a thing? They’ve been “sisters” for 9 yrs so it’s not like they aren’t used to each other. It’s the only time Bailey is ever mean. |
My guess would be that she doesn't like wetness, perceives it as a vulnerability, an unnatural state, and gets grumpy and acts out. Max gets wild when wet and Teddy sulks.:D Very interesting though about Baily and Lacey. :) |
Talk about yorkies quirky ways lol. Poor Lacey, it must be hard on you to keep them separated until they are dry. I see you are a member since 2009 and this is your first post, welcome to YT. |
My three are always unsettled on "bath day". They will sniff each other, and sometimes chase each other or get the zoomies. Everyone has a different coat color and texture, so they each have different shampoos and rinses...with different scents. After a day or so they settle back in to their regular habits. |
I have one that literally reminds me of a Tasmanian devil cartoon when she perceives a threat. She is 4.5 pounds but my other 2 dogs, 6.5 and 8.5 pounds, give her wide berth when she is startled.😁 |
LOL, the smaller they are the feistier they are. |

Agree, she feels vulnerable and, in nature, until a behavior is modified by humans, offense is the best defense! You can change that but it's work, takes dedication, more determination than she has. |
