3 yorkies Hi everyone ! My name is Jillkit and I lose my dog to a pitbull in October she was 8 years old. Her brother is 9 years old and we felt needed a sister. So we got a 4 month old yorkie girl. Well they really don't play a lot together. My baby wants to play a lot and my boy doesn't. Now I feel bad for the baby. My questions is should I get another baby yorkie for my little girl ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jillkit |
I would give it sometime to see how things go. It can take months for them to get used to each other and bond. |
1 Attachment(s) I agree that it takes months for them to bond, but we did actually add a third to our "pack". Beauregarde, our poodle, was eight when we got Tyrone. Beau had lost his best friend and we wanted him to have another playmate. When we got Ty he was a scruffy little scamp, and he and Beau played together well. Unfortunately, Tyrone did not stay "little" for long. He grew fast, and had so much energy and strength that Beauregarde could not keep up. Ty would not let him rest, so we brought baby Gus into the family to be Ty's playtime buddy. Beau plays along too, until he gets tired, then goes off to nap. It is now three years later, and they are totally bonded friends. They spend their time cuddled together in a single dog bed by the garage door whenever we go out, and all three share our bed at night. Welcome to Yorkie Talk, and we all hope to learn more about you and your furbabies! |
Welcome to YT and so very sorry for the loss of your little girl, what a horrible thing to have happened. Having had a pack of 3, all 3 years apart I have to agree with the 2 above members, it takes time. Wait before getting another baby. Each time I bought a new baby home it would take 6 weeks to 2 months for the older one / ones to stay on the floor with the new kid and play. They did became BFF it just took time. Don't force friendship on your older one, let him go to the baby on his time, his terms. Make sure he has a safe haven he can get to to get away from frisky puppy. Do not leave the two of them together alone unsupervised. Before you know it they will be BFF. |
Thanks so much for all of your replies. I think I will wait and see how they get along. Thanks again. |
