coat length 1 Attachment(s) Does anyone know at approximately what age does the coat get floor length? Lexie is 14 months old (see pic). |
Lexie is gorgeous! Sully is a year-and-five-months and his hair is about that length, too. I think it's different for every dog? We're growing Sully's hair out, too and it seems to be taking forever! LOL. I know, patience, patience... :p PS. I used to live in Chattanooga...when I was a kid. I went to Westview Elementary (but that school doesn't exist anymore). I also went to kindergarten at Grace Academy. ;) |
Yorkies coats grow at different rates. I dont think there is any exact age that it should get floor length. I think with wrapping and special care I have read at 2 yrs the dog should be in full adult coat. I cannot remember where I read it so I am not vouching for the source.Maybe some of the breeders here can help. Good luck! A few years if you had told me I would be way more concerned with my dogs hair than my own I would have died laughing;) |
1 Attachment(s) You know, I'm glad you posted this, I've been thinking the same thing about my Daisy her coat is so much like your girls. Lexie is just gorgeous by the way. My male who is about 7 months has a way longer fuller coat than Daisy at almost 10 months. Her coat seems silky just is taking a long time to grow. |
i think it all depends onthe doggy, for instance my coco's hair grows super fast, if i didn't get him a trim his hair would be super long and he is only 1. i also feed him missing link wich is a supplement with the vitamins and minerals that coats need to grow and be healthy. my coco's hair is very shiny and really soft. you should try it :) |

Sadie is 3 1/2 and when I got her ten mos. ago, her skirt was about three inches off of the ground. I am trying to get it to reach the ground, asI love that look, even though it will take more brushing, etc. You can probably tell by looking at my avatar that it is finally getting there. I am hoping that by April it will be hitting the ground. It seems to grow so slow. Kate |
2 Attachment(s) Some yorkies coats will NEVER reach floor length and some need to have their hair cut every couple of months to keep them from tripping on it:( Lady was 2 in november and Jess will be 2 in April and they still have what I call, puppy length coats and Im not expecting any miracles at this point:( Their coats are silky, shiney,SO easy to comb etc,but it just wont grow. Iv just ordered a hair growth stimulator which is basicly essencial oils (about 10 different kinds) essencial acids (another 6 of those) and lots of different vitamins and minerals..Im hoping this will do something even if it only grows another inch. Iv posted a couple of pictures so you can see how short their coats are.The first picture is Jess and the second is Lady.2 yorkies whos hair wont grow..now what are the chances of that happening!? lol (just my luck!). |
Thank you to all 1 Attachment(s) Thank you for your responses and sweet comments regarding Lexie. Of course mommy thinks she is beautiful, but it is refreshing to have others think so as well. Lexie is my first Yorkie and I can't image having another breed. She is truely a blessing. I will definitely try the dietary supplements. Lexie and I will continue to dream of a long flowing coat. :) |
