Puppy-proof How do you puppy proof your home before you get your baby home any suggestions will help |
I don't have the most experience, but I've heard you should get down on your knees and look from puppy's viewpoint, look for "twouble" they could get into, etc. |
All cables and wires that are on the floor lift them up where puppies cannot reach them, this also includes lamp wires, any knickknacks on lower shelves that puppy can reach, remove them. Just as if you had a human toddler you remove what ever that baby can reach you do the same to puppy proof your home, like a toddler every thing goes in their mouth puppies are the same way. Baby yorkies get into all sorts of things, they are big mischief makers lol. |
I can tell you there is no complete way to totally puppy proof. When you can not watch the puppy they need to be an a exercise pen. I suggest you change all your small trash cans to the step cans. Look for anything toxic to the puppy and keep it high. Remember puppies can climb and get on furniture so that needs to be kept free of anything toxic. Mine loved paper so I would keep tissues and paper products high. You might want to put a baby gate at the front door until you train the pup not to dash out the door. I am a huge fan of a collar with a bell. Make sure you have lots and lots of different types of toys. |
Thank you for all the suggestions it really helped |
