Should I be concerned? About a month ago I had to unfortunately rehome my chihuahua puppy on Craigslist(not the best website and am having to learn this the hard way). A older lady and Her husband came and bought her. They claimed that she would be the 2nd pet that they will own (beside a 14 year old doberman). A few weeks later my sister searches their number and It turns out that she is a big AKC chihuahua, yorkie and poodle breeder. She has her own website with all the dogs she is selling including an AKC chihuahua puppy for $1100. Is she going to breed my puppy I gave her and forge paperwork to sell it pups. I'm upset and worried. Is there anything I can do? |
Welcome to YT :). Yes, she could very well do exactly what you're suspecting. In fact, she probably is doing exactly that. You could try contacting her and say you want your puppy back, not yet revealing what you know perhaps - and see what the reaction is. As far as forging paperwork - are you bringing that up bc your puppy wasn't AKC registered, so she'd have to fake that...? If she does do that, then you may have some recourse w/ the AKC - but I imagine it'd be hard to prove. |
Its never a good idea to rehome an unfixed dog for this reason. You can let the AKC know but other then that I'm not sure that you can do much. Dogs are sadly considered property so the dog is now hers and she can pretty much do anything she wants with it. |
I would be very concerned especially if she is a back yard breeder. I'm not sure what you can do to get her back (if that is your purpose) other than ask for her back. It may cost you some money though. I got my first yorkie from a backyard breeder (lack of knowledge). She was just used for breeding and by the time I got her, her health was really bad. She had been horribly neglected. I cried at the vet's when they told me how much she had been bred, the poor thing had had several c sections. The breeder only care about her making puppies and did the bare minimum to care for her medical needs. |
