What else should I do? Hi everyone, I've been doing all I can to get myself ready for the day that I can adopt a yorkie baby of my own. I've been reading about the breed, talking to breeders, puppy proofing my house, checking out local vets, STALKING THIS SITE :D , etc.... What else can I do to get my life ready for my new baby?? All suggestions welcomed and appreciated ;) |
You sound so excited! And you should be, you will love your new Yorkie! What else can you do? Prepare for lots of lovin! |
Okay, IMO, the "else" you can do is research the breed, their issues but most importantly-learn how to interview and ultimately pick a breeder AND learn what the breeder should ask you in the interview. If it sounds too good to be true, you can bet it is!! |
How are you doing with finding a breeder? That is THE most important part. Find a good breeder with lots of experience and your chances of staying away from the vet are much better :D Two of my favorite websites www.ytca.org and this one http://www.shooterdog.com/alexfaq.htm good luck |
I've found a couple from Ytca, Shooters and breeders.net, I'm also interested in a few from this board. I'm slowly going thru asking questions and finding out thier practices and how they treat thier babies. I know now that the breeder's practices are even more important than the pup. As far as what to look for I've been reading alot about what a responsible breeder wil and will not do. I've also been finding out about breed specific problems and grooming and such, so slowly but surely, I'm getting there. Thanks for the great advice everyone. I can't wait to be a mommy! |
