Just had a Big Scare!
 
I had wee lil Freya in my lap on the floor, after trying to feed her lunch, which she didn't eat much of, and was combing her. I have several things: a bristle/pin brush, metal comb, etc. Anyway, I was using the 8 in metal comb. Got to her feet. She was being a butt...
And she started screaming.
I didn't know what was wrong! I thought her hair was caught.
It was a toe!
I couldn't get it out! I thought I was gonna break her foot. It was SO traumatic...for both of us.

Ohhhh my. I'm sure that was traumatic.

Was it a dew claw? Front foot or rear?

A toe on one of the back feet. I'm working on art, giving her a chance to calm down. I checked her toes, she didn't seem to be hurting after I got it free. I'm really surprised she didn't break her foot struggling.


The little darling didn't even try to bite me. I love her SO much.

Awwww.

When you take her to the vet, have him/her check Freya's back feet for dew claws. If she has that claw on one or both of her back legs, the vet can easily remove it at the she is spayed.

First brush wee lil Freya, when you're your sure you have all knots out, then gently pass the comb through her hair. One tiny knot can snag in the comb and hurt these wee lil babies. If the comb catches a knot stop combing and use the brush again, poor lil Freya, poor daddy.

Much harder and more painful for you than for her, I'm sure! Glad you're both doing well and she must love you back very much not to even snap at you! Trials and tribulations of Yorkie guardianship!

I'm finding out that Yorkies are "runners". The come command when they are wanting to chase something is a real challenge. That's why a good harness and leash are mandatory with these little guys and gals.

If it’s not attached through a joint yes but if it’s attached it’s an amputation although doable just more of an issue.

We all make these oopsies dog parenting issues. I went to shave Callie’s little butt and nicked her the other day. I felt terrible forever and still do.

I learned within two weeks of bringing Piper home that she can never, ever, ever be off-leash outside, as she is faster than a blink and nothing exists (not people, cars, trucks, erupting volcanos, low-flying jets...), except that which Piper has chosen to pursue, period! Plus, it's amazing how quickly she blends into her surroundings--almost uncanny!

It is amazing how they blend in, I have lost Cody in the back yard in the fall many a time lol. Cody also cannot ever be off leash, he's faster then the speed of lighting and hears nothing but the call of the wild. I think Cody and lil Piper are related ;)

I'm terrified of letting Gidget off leash when outside. She chases anything that moves including birds. Just know she would take off running if she was off leash. Can't take that chance!

Ohmygosh--they might actually be the same dog--after all, we've never seen them in the same place at the same time...I gotta cut back on the sci fy!! I think they are definitely related and I gotta believe they'd be the best little buddies ever---that is, if they'd take a minute to acknowledge one another!
