Baby's Bath
 
I need advice. This'll be my first Freya bath. A month ago, my mom came over and gave her her first bath...so I could take pics. :) Now it's up to me lol. Freya needs another bath, has been a month.


What's the best way to bathe a Yorkie? THANKS. :D

I bathe mine in the sink. I use puppy shampoo that is tear free. You also need an ear cleaner that has a drying agent in it to dry any water that gets in their ears. I use epi otic. I bathe mine every week or every other week.

I highly recommend having a sprayer attachment; it makes all the difference in getting Piper thoroughly wet and ready for shampoo. And the sprayer then helps to thoroughly rinse her off...You must make sure Freya is rinsed completely as that is key for her comfort--get all the soap off!! Also, have everything ready at your fingertips (do not leave her alone even for a second)...shampoo, plenty of towels; make sure water is tepid; take extreme care with/around her head--ears and eyes. Be gentle and be quick the first few times bathing her so as to keep it a reasonably pleasurable experience.

Make sure you use a good conditioner after you rise out all the shampoo.

We just bathed them last night. Shampoo, conditioner and detangler when we dry and comb them. They smell soooo good!

I don’t know that you have to use conditioner I don’t and my babies especially the boys have super soft hair.

Our dogs are in puppy cuts, Freya is not. Maybe because Cody has allergies my vet told me I have to use conditioner, I use HyLyte shampoo and conditioner, my understanding is the conditioner hydrates the skin.

Callie has super bad allergies but we stopped hylyte and we use Duexo I find it a little more pricy but it works pretty well as much as a shampoo can. They also make a mousse for inbetween baths as well as a spot on treatment for allergy spots. Back when we used hylyte we didn’t use conditioner then either.

I don't think a conditioner is required but it doesn't hurt. Most of the googling I just did recommends it but none said it absolutely should be done. Dogs like labs with a thick undercoat don't need conditioning. Here is a sample article:

I go by what my vet advises. I am looking to change from HyLyte, the spray they had for conditioner also for in between baths I cannot find anywhere, the conditioner is very thick and has to be left on for 10 minutes, not happy with that. I'll try what you use only if they sell the conditioner, price is not an issue for me. Did you get it from amazon.I was looking at a allergy shampoo and their conditioner "vet's Best" on chewy, don't know how good it is.

As far as I know there is no conditioner for it but its not necessary with that brand. I bought one from my vet but got the other form Amazon. Chewy might also have it (thought I saw it there once). They have one that is for skin that is broke out and then one for when skin is not. Nootie is not necessarily for skin issue but it has fatty acids in it which is supposed to help with allergies and they have a spray as well. I was using that on Callie in between the hylyte and the duexo. Now I use Nootie on Joey and then a puppy shampoo on my younger two.

Thanks Taylor I'll check out the Nootie with fatty acids, Cody had dry flaky skin but that could have been from over the winter with the heat going 24/7.

Is there a good 'leave-in' conditioner out there? I shampoo and condition Piper with oatmeal Well & Good cuz I could purchase in little bottles to try...It works well enough. Looks like today was bath day for everybody! Below is Pipe post bath
