Toys Can anyone please tell me about the toys your yorkie likes. My darling doesn’t like any of her toys. Thank you!! |

My late senior, Katy, played with toys as a sweet young thing--but only during the month or so when another, older yorkie was staying with us. She mostly liked trying to covet anything the older yorkie wanted. Try as she might, the older yorkie wanted none of her business. When he left, she lost all interest in toys. As I'm preparing for another young yorkie, I have been hoarding chew toys. I plan on putting a few of them in the xpen in the hope she'll play with them. I posted pictures of some of my collection on the thread, "Teething chew recommendations please." How old is your sweetie? |
My 7 yo boy is like a kid with new toys, he likes anything that squeaks, rubber or fuzzy cloth, if it squeaks he's on it. He wasn't always like this, I rescued him when he was 2 1/2 yo, he didn't know what a toy was, not even a ball excited him, it took me close to a year to get him to play with any toy, now I have to watch out he doesn't break the TV with all his flinging things around. Do you encourage her to play, I would tease my guy with a toy, then toss it, I kept this up several times throughout the day for close to a year, then one day he bought me a toy to play tug with. |
Mine likes/prefers plushies with squeakers in it. |
Piper has very little use for toys; sometimes she'll "steal" one from her toy box and I'll chase after her for it, but it's a very short game. She prefers going places with me and loves to go for walks; she also likes to chew turkey tendons and I'm introducing beef tendons hoping they'll last for more than a few minutes!!! |
Fabian has two baskets of toys. Many are plush with squeakers. He gnaws the squeakers out, so we can't leave him unattended with them. He plays with each one in turn, mostly because I take some out of commission to sew them back shut or put them through the laundry when they get dirty or smelly. After more than a year, most have missing noses and arms. He knows ***exactly*** how many he has and goes looking under furniture, in other rooms, etc. if I have to throw any of them away. He also barks incessently at birds and squirrels outside, so he love disemboweling the toys that look like them. <g> He's absolutely uninterested in the plastic bottle with the rope on the end that dispenses treats, because he knows he can get treats by simply begging!<g>. He likes tennis balls, but skins them, so we switched to the rubber Kong ones. We play fetch and tug of war a lot with him: the human interaction is key, but he'll also keep himself entertained. |

Awwwww. I know that feeling. When I first got Freya, about 60 days ago, she wouldn't touch anything. She loves the rope toy I just got her! She likes her alien from Bark Box lol. She sometimes plays with her racoon when it's on her bed. |

The toy problem is quite common among dogs. They are ready to play with anything but what you buy. My Leo loves a lot of our son's toys. For real, it is a whole problem. He always steals Jo's things when he leaves them on the floor. And he cries. Finally, we analyzed what dog selects for playing. So, we ordered him a Funny Teeth Silicone Squeaky Ball Toy similar to the son's balls. This is the only toy the dog approved. Indeed, it is essential that your pet has its own toy and did not lick the things that the child plays with. |

Jax absolutely loves toys. Almost any toys. His favorites include rope toys (He loves tug of war) and squeaky balls (Although he was very suspicious of his zany ball for the first few days ... it was hilarious, actually, to watch him circle around it and jump away if he accidentally touched it. But now it’s one of his favorite things). Another favorite is something I “made up” for him when he was teething and loved to chew. I bought a package of baby burp cloths that are about 16 inches by 7 inches. Roll them lengthwise and tie a knot in the middle, and you have a lightweight but durable toy that’s great for chewing or tossing. |
Emma likes balls. Here are her two favorites (Hertz Bacon Ball & Weasel Ball) She's not big on stuffies but she likes things that squeak as well. My Troy (RIP) didn't like toys at all so it's all dog dependent. |
