Like Matese, Piper went after a duck, full-force and (literally) hit the water running! It was early spring, the water was very cold, and Pipe was drenched! So far, Piper is not a big fan of the water---we live withing walking distance of the lake--and water just lapping kinda hits her in the face. So...the other day I purchased a life vest and am hoping it provides a bit of security for her. I like that it's bright and therefore will be easily seen and it will keep her above water without inhibiting her movements. Haven't tried it yet, but will let you know if Piper changes her opinion after swimming with vest on.

Any body of water.... Jackson is in it. Well, except the bath. He HaTES the bath.

I'd say he's always been naturally gravitated towards water. But I helped pursue it and encouraged him to jump etc. He's a food hound so I often used food rewards. His fav toy is by far the ChuckIt bumper.

He still doesn't prefer to jump in off the side- he needs a raft or a float first to jump on THEN he gets in the water... lol. But he lays on the step all the time by himself voluntarily.

I find a vest gives a lot of dogs confidence! Many don't like when their head goes under and the vest provides extra support that makes them feel more at ease.

Do you think she was turned off by the cold water? We don't have too many ducks here is the heat of summer--lol.

She looks precious in that vest; it is bright.

Standard size, Kajon weighed 13 Lbs, I had one made out of rawhide that didn't get bite marks on it that causes bleeding, it was made special for dogs, I would think they have improved them today . The regular plastic ones would have lots of bite marks on it and caused her mouth to bleed.

Piper looks so cute in her vest, I love the color, Cody has one in orange. I keep him on a retractable leash then walk in the water, he will swim out to me, but is faster to get back on solid grounds lol.

Oh my, dock diving! Suspect that yorkie loves the water!

Just picturing one of these little ones walking to the end of a dock has my head spinning.

We also have another member, gemi that has a yorkie Razzle that competes in dock diving. It just takes my breath away to see these wee lil pups leaping off these docks. So fantastic to show a yorkie is not "just" a yappy lap dog, but can do things big dogs can do. They are just fearless.
