Stupid question... Ok, I have relatively skinny fingers, and still have an impossible time getting bows with 3/8 latex on to my STUFFED dog! lol... is there a tip or trick to manipulating these tiny bands? I'm stumped! I can't stretch it enough to make three or four turns to stay on tight! |
First...you don't want a bow in TOO Tight - can you just turn them twice and will they stay in that way ? OR - maybe you may need some different bands ? ...Laytex are nice because they don't pull the hair as much as a rubber band ...but it's all in how they maniupulate whether they work for you. I found some at my supermarket that are just right for me and they stay in really well... |
I have found the small elastic bands at Target. I got mine at www.lawdogbows.com. I put them in as Villette said. |
Hmmmm.... welll she is just a puppy, so I was only trying with a tiny bit of hair on my stuffed dog, because I am not going to be able to get hold of a lot of hair all at once, and yet I see sights all over where breeders take these darling pictures of their baby's with bows in on practically no hair! LOL - I can't even imagine how i am going to do this on a wiggly puppy when she comes on thusday! You guys make it look so easy, especially red98vette! How do you get your dogs hair to look so beautiful? They are just gorgeous! I guess I will just keep practicing - I have two boys, so bows haven't been an issue! LOL |
I always put an elastic band in then put the bow band in. Your dog will get used to it the more you do it. |

LOL...Thank you :) and Chachi is so right - practice and repeating it every day gets them used to it. what I did was alot of brushing to relax mine when they were puppies - then a TINY bow with only a little hair... secure enough to stay in... and get them used to it and gradually... Then add more hair to the bow....I found that using little Bows..not something really big or overwhelming.. helped because once it was in - they never knew it was there. The key is not to have them too tight...if it pulls - they'll try to remove it. Do the Chinese Eye Test - IF you see your yorkie looking back at you with a Surprised look on her face - LOOSEN THE BOW ! :D |
bows You can use a crochet hook..put the band on and hook it so you can get it on your fingers...I can not explain, but you do not put the hook down, you hook and loop.. |
