Puppy has "dog" smell? I keep him clean and have tried deoderizing spray, is this a puppy thing he will grow out of or part of the breed? I have no idea what causes it Any suggestions for ways to get rid of it when guests come? |

But seriously if it’s yeasty smelling or moist/wet like smell that lingers it could be a skin allergy but that would take a vets advice , testing and possibly a blood panel. If your vet doesn’t see anything wrong medically here are a few things I do to keep the dog smell away : Figure out what yorkie hair cut you want . Puppy cuts usually will help lessen the frequency of baths as it doesn’t have a lot of hair to collect debris or potty accidents . Bathe regularly, once a week with a quality shampoo and conditioner. Brush the teeth regularly as this can be a root cause of smell as well . Sprays that have alcohol in them usually don’t last long . I teach my dog to potty outside so there is an element of smelling like outside sometimes but if that’s a deterrent for you , review potty pads but that can be challenging as well and if you already have a sensitive nose , then that may not be an option for you. Good luck |

How old is this pup? What do you mean, exactly, by this smell...? |
I'm not a fan of deodorizing sprays. My two seem to hate them. As long as you keep them clean and they don't have any skin issues...the puppy smell usually goes away as they grow up. If it's a 'wet smell'... I'd ask the vet to check and see if there are any issues? If not, maybe you're worrying too much. :) Call me weird, but I miss their puppy smells. Haha.. it was a little stinky, but I liked it because I knew it'd go away as soon as they weren't puppies anymore. |
