Moving
 
I think I have a dilemma on my hands. I have my two yorkies peppe and Bella and we have been living in my parents house as long as I’ve had them and they are both very attached to my parents my mom especially. Now I am moving into a condo next month and I am having major anxiety for them, I know my little peppe already has anxiety as it is. it’s really turning what should be an exciting time into a very stressful time. I’m hoping someone has some suggestions on how to make this an easy transition?

Gather up all their favorite toys to dump in the new living room. May be a couple new ones too.
Can you mom go with you to help settle them in.
Any chance you can show them the new place before the move.
Lots of familiar things and smells could help.

If you can take them over there a few times before moving that would help. If their anxiety is really bad you may have to ask the vet for something for a few days.

I am going to bring them there before moving in and I’ve thought about bringing them there slowly, starting off with weekends and eventually making it full time. I know my parents will really miss them also they don’t want me to take them but I can’t imagine life without my little bears
Also going to try bringing their toys. Thanks for the tips

I would definitely bring a couple of their toys and one of their blankies there, and before moving in bring them to their home as often as possible, this way when you bring them there to live, they will already be familiar with the new smells and surroundings.

Can you bring something that has the scent of your mom and dad? I've heard that familiar scents help to calm them

Yes I can maybe bring a blanket from the living room, that might work! I have my fingers crossed... I am also going to transition them slowly. I will bring them a few days a week to get used to it. Its also hard because they are moving from a whole house to a small condo...

What's the distance between your place and where your folks live? Sounds like your mom and your pups are very close...what about leaving one pup w/your mom for a night or two, then doing the same with the other? Sometimes that reminds pups how much they love and want to be with you...And it gives your mom some one-on-one time to enjoy and concentrate on each. Can they have regular sleep-overs at your parents place? Piper letting me know how good she has it with my 94 yr old mom with whom we live...cracks me up!
