Hey Everyone, my sister recently bought a dog from a breeder they said she was only 5 months when she got her but she looks a lot bigger.Apparently now we have found out that the breeders are less than reputable .I have a few pictures of tonya my sister is starting to wonder if she's a Yorkie I think he is just wondered what you guys think x.

I am no expert but she looks full blown Yorkie to me! And what a beautiful pup she is!!!!

My Otto is full Yorkie and at 1.5 years he is a hair over 13 pounds! He is no teacup, he is a full size teapod!

Aww your Otto is gorgeous .my sister for some reason is not convinced tonya is a Yorkie she's saying she's to big she weighs 6 pounds and like I said we really don't know how old this dog is the vet said he thinks she around one or so.

You could suggest for your sister to look at some information online, for example, The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America

The standard Yorkie show competition size is up to 7 lbs. That doesn't mean a full Yorkie doesn't grow up to be bigger. Some even have 15 lb Yorkies! Think of it as a taller or shorter human sibling, but you're still all related. Your sister may be misinformed about what a Yorkie is by what people call 'teacup' Yorkies.

Well, even then she is within range of AKC guidelines. I guess you can do a test on her.

My Otto lineage has also been big for yorkies, from his mother side it seems. At first we thought he might have some Silky Terrier on him but nah, he is very squarish. But you might look into that possibility.

I am happy he is big, less worries about injuries and I dont support the "teacup" trend.

Just enjoy her and love her regardless of any result, although I get you might want to prove/disprove any scam from the breeder.

100% purebred Yorkie. She's absolutely beautiful.

This is a picture of tonyas mum or should I say they told us this was her my sister never actually saw her .Im still angry that she bought a dog from these backyard breeders.The picture of tonyas mum I think it's not her mum because she's very very tiny but saying that I don't know about breeding terms etc or sizing of puppies.

My, my, my, that is one adorable 100% yorkie. Weight means nothing when it comes to a yorkie. My last girl weighed in at 17 pounds, pure AKC registered yorkie, just a big but sleek girl. Yorkie standard weight is 5 to 7 pounds, so her baby is in that weight range but could put on a couple of pounds. Your sis may think all yorkies are wee lil mites, and reason for her thinking she not pure yorkie. Tell your sis to put her mind at ease, she has a absolutely adorable pure yorkie. Soon she'll be hit with yorkie fever and want another one lol, make sure she researches reputable breeders that breed for "standard" yorkies, beware of any breeder that state the words "Tiny or T-cup" these are not reputable breeders. Please stick around and post pics as this baby grows.
No matter what size she becomes, she will still have that yorkie personality and big dog attitude.

I'm sorry to say that my sister actually wanted a TEACUP Yorkshire terrier and I said to her don't be stupid there's no such thing.She However still insists she going to get tonya a little sister a teacup yorkie😡😡😡

Please tell sis there is no such thing as a Teacup yorkie. Yorkie standard weight is 5 to 7 pounds, there are reputable breeders that may have a smaller then standard puppy in a litter, but they will be healthy pups because breeder did not purposely breed for tiny dogs, but you also have un-reputable Greeders that purposely breed for smaller then standard yorkies. They use the words Teacup and Tiny to charge big bucks for a wee lil baby that may / can have huge health issues due to poor breeding to get these tiny babies. A 5 pound yorkie is still tiny, but is a "standard" size yorkie.

This is something I have seen lately in my neck of the woods, people requesting "teacups" that can do "tricks", so called "Misa Mini" effect, then dissapointed to see them grow big and the rejecting them when they turn out to be "huge" and "without manners". I suspect I got to adopt my pup as he was rejected for this and I got the opportunity to include this little rebel in my family.
