When your yorkie is a BRAT!... 1 Attachment(s) Sunny may look sweet, but he is running this house like a little dictator! -He likes to get my dad up in the mornings by barking at him impatiently. (Basically, he expects him to leap out of bed and run down to the kitchen immediately; anything less...*BARK!*) -He pesters him when eating breakfast for a handout. -He pesters throughout the day for treats. -He starts staring at my mom for his dinner at 2:00. -He monitors my dad throughout the day; when he sees his eyes close he wakes him up with an annoyed little yell. -My mom is not allowed to speak/laugh at certain times during the day when she's watching TV with my dad. If she does, he barks at her as if to say "Shut up!" When he's had enough of her at night he barks until she goes to bed. And yet we love him! :) |
Big personality in a little, lovable guy! |
Brat I know the feeling! But I guess it's my fault for not correcting earlier. But I have found to my cost that these smart Yorkies soon figure out that one lapse in our attention becomes an ok thing to do for them! One look into their cute eyes forgives a lot!!! |
sounds like you've been staying at my house! our little guy is 8 months old and he is a terror and i'm not really sure what to do. i was told that he would settle down a little after we got him neutered but he is worse now than ever. |
Brat Sounds like there are a few more brats around! My boy is nearly nine now and a lot quieter (and cuter it seems), but the barking is hard to take! I have to be very fast on the TV mute button as he hates so many noises and barks like heck. I tried many anti bark methods but he seems immune to them. I wish you luck with your baby and hope you are able to get the bad habits out before they become constant! My boy loves people and is the biggest suck up you could ever find. Others can't believe he has brattish ways at home! |
they are too smart for there own good |
I LOVE brats, my boy can be a bit demanding but not controlling. He's a rescue, a surrender and really is a perfect lil boy. My now passed girls I raised from 8 week old babies, spoiled, demanding BRATS, I just loved my lil brats and I miss that in my boy. |
Ditto :) |
Yup it's safe to say he has the entire family wrapped around his paws. I think they are taking applications for the SRC..........also known as the Spoiled Rotten Club:D:D:D Duchess is pretty cool but she gets really demanding when she wants a treat or if when she wants to go outside.:p |
Duchess is pretty cool but she gets really demanding when she wants a treat or if when she wants to go outside Dang, that's Piper, too! And she is relentless when demanding.... |
Talk about a BRAT!!! This is Maddie my Grand-dog. I puppy-sit her when my daughter and her family is out of town. She is just a biddy 3.8 lbs but Holy Moly what a Devil-dog. She comes in a Rules the house. -She wakes me by continuously whining beginning at 6:30 a.m so I can serve her breakfast. -She takes over Deuce's fluffy bed and won't let him sleep in it. -Deuce goes over to kiss her and she just turns her head. -She barks and follows me around beginning at 4 pm to serve her dinner. -Then she stares me down until I give her a treat afterward. -She takes over my hubby's ottoman and won't move when we're watching TV. Whew! We are glad when she goes home. But we miss her so much!!!! Shhh! I took some photos of her to surprise her mommy with for Christmas. I think this one is my favorite. |
1 Attachment(s) Sorry forgot to attach the photo. This is Maddie. |

Matteo W oww must run in y orkie because my Matteo is a terror sometimes first off I'm his.. he don't like to share even thought the others have been here way longer and way older.lol he demands I go sit or lay down so he can be on me . He will jump chest high in front of me till I reach out and catch him.. if I go potty he has to be in my lap and if I shut him out he tries to tear the door down lol.. and when the others are getting attention or try to come to me he uses his body to push them back.. I have to grab him and hold him to show them attention..or put him up. Lol he is a mess.. but has stolen my heart from day one.. he iPad trained and has always done great till his acorns dropped lol and now he has figured out how to hike and he is trying to mark...all over my house.. got to gfet him to stop that some how lol driving me crazy.. |

As for leg hiking you should have him neutered NOW if he has just started marking, this can / may stop him but it has to be done now, the longer you wait it will become a habit that cannot be stopped. You may have to use belly bands to protect your home. |
Yes I have neutering planned lol and I do have belly bands lol just have not tried it with him yet.. lol I love his hair and was scared of it getting him it..lol |

I live with a brat too! She is always looking for food. She has slowed down some now since she is 11. I wouldn't change a thing about her. :) |
Dog My Daisy is a barker. Every time my husband enters the room she charges at him barking. It is annoying. She is the cutest yet has this barking thing. Excellent watchdog yet barks at inappropriate times. Well no man is perfect and it's the same with yorkies. The bible tells us love covers a multitude of sins and I say love covers a multitude of barks. I love my yorkies |
